I want to install a 36" Anderson series 3000 storm door. I'm told I need to build out the sidelights so that the trim is flush with the edge of the floor and top, but am a bit confused of the exact width I need. I've watched a few different videos on how to do it. Some leave the buildouts with one flat edge, while others leave a 1/2 notch on both sides to account for the 36" door. I guess the confusion is, ultimately, how far out am I mounting the storm door from the exterior door? Should it be inset 1/2 inch on both sides or or just mount it flush onto the buildout? Hopefully I've at least asked my question in a way that makes sense. I've pretty much over thought this to death at this point and just want to be done with it.
