What does the rest of the house look like? I'd say yes to the waterfall based on those renderings (?), but we need to know more.

You have a prep sink and an induction top on the island? The wall ovens seem a long way from the prep zone, a range where you have the cooktop seems more practical.

Not the question, but , 5 stools in a line facing a wall, with an active cook/wash/ prep area taking up a huge amount of island?

Actually, I think it’s related because I think of waterfall treatment as more contemporary and dressy, and that’s not there.

While I've seen some pictures of waterfall islands that look very nice (in contemporary kitchens), we've seen many posts on this forum about issues people have had with their waterfall installations. I'd recommend that you read up on those, and be very sure your fabricator has successfully done waterfall install and that he/she understands your expectations in terms of lining up veining in your stone.

I like the waterfall with your design...but I don't listen to the "rules", I usually go with what I like since it's for me. But if your goal is to have 5 usable seats at that size island...it probably cannot happen with the waterfall ends. I have an 8' island with legs (so like yours, it takes space from the stools and forces them in the middle) and I can only fit 3 comfortably. People are able to get in and out, and stools and elbows don't touch.

@lucky998877 Thanks, it would be nice to have 5 usable seats but not a must. The island will be more than 10' long so hopefully can at least have 4 usable seats!

@chicagoansThanks, I've heard some terrible waterfall installation stories. We will do our best to find a good installer!

I think it looks fine with a frameless shaker....but I still voted NO. Only because I simply cannot wait until this trend ends. It's expensive....it's hard to have a perfect installation....customer expectations are over the top (no pun intended), you have to plan for outlets....etc.

How did you handle electrical in the island?

I'm not a big waterfall island person - but your kitchen turned out very well! I also like the floating shelves with the way that they wrap around the corner.

It looks like your fabricator did a nice job - photo of seams are too far away to tell on the waterfall (that's where many issues will happen).

I am also curious about how the electrical has been installed re: the island.

@chicagoans @dani_m08 thanks! We put electric outlet boxes under the island overhang on two sides and in the middle.

Your kitchen turned out great! I'm getting ready to redo my kitchen and made a note to aim for floating shelves like yours!
