If I were a guest I'd be thinking how do you keep it clean in a greasy steamy kitchen?

I am also obsessed with nelson bubble lights, have the saucer in my living room, but can't see it staying clean in a kitchen.

@patriciacolwellconsulting that is a wonderful idea. I just need to make sure I have the room…I have the medium saucers, which to me are still pretty big but I guess if staggered wouldn’t be a big deal.

Our new place won’t have room for a dining table, just a counter height island.

Maybe re-think this? Not aging in place friendly if that is the plan.

I have a similar ( Room & Board ”Orikata” saucer ) in my kitchen, over a tulip table.. No issues with cleaning . I love Nelson lamps, have a floor lamp, just think the Orikata’s are more interesting when lit , light emits from the laser cuts on the pleats.

@ci_lantro we “could” fit a table when needed, it would just be the first thing you’d see when entering the home (you enter and the kitchen is on right and the living room is on left…it is a metal building with 1583sq ft living quarters) and to me, makes it feel crowded and I am a major minimalist, so anything feeling crowded will drive me mad. I totally understand what you are saying and again, push come to shove I can put one there :)

I don't think counter-height dining is a bad idea for aging in place. Older people (some point over 80) seem to have trouble getting up and down from chairs, so being able to slide on and off a seat seems desirable.

I love those lights too. They're not really my style, but there is something appealing about them. :-)

I know I’m late to this party, but I’m curious what you ended up going with and whether you have photos.

I’m not sure why people are thinking it won’t be easy to keep clean. It’s not going over a stove top from my understanding, so it seems like it would be just as easy, if not easier since it’s fully enclosed, to keep clean than a standard pendant light.

The material is not glass, and not fully enclosed, but a textured plastic that looks like shoji paper, and are not as simple to clean as a glass fixture.
