helping creeping liriope to creep

last modified: 2 years ago

i have 2 areas where i planted creeping liriope. both plantings came from gardeners removing it so i'm taking their word that is the creeping variety. the area along my driveway was planted ground 12 years ago & has spread maybe 18"nearer the house & 12-14" nearer the street. the other under a hackberry tree has been in for 2 years but seems to be spreading faster. i'm sure soil is a factor. both patches are in morning sun & afternoon shade. would more frequent watering help. i've not fertilized and i'm not prone to knee jerk fertilizing but an occasional jolt couldn't hurt. anything else? maybe loosen adjacent soil? i've also thought about digging up & separating it along the driveway.
