IMO 2 finishes not 3 and I never like brick and stone mixed IMO the only thing done in stone should be the turret all the rest stucco I think the house a confused idea of what it is and to add to that confusion would not be a good idea.

I think it should be completely clad in stone. But here's a picture of someone who did the turret in stone as Patricia said, and some around the bottom. If you just put a little stone or brick somewhere it's going to look cheap. I would also not go with a bright white stucco. Bright white and black windows says Modern Farmhouse, but the massing of this house is not MF. How about a stone color stucco?

This is the stone i chose and the bricks that I planned to use to accent with, above/below windows. My window grids/trim is the green. I was planning on cream stucco, definitely not white.

I agree with Patricia. Some judicious editing will help the end result look less busy since there's a lot going on with the gables/turret, arch and multiple window sizes...so no brick and no shutters. Stucco perhaps should match the lightest shade of sand in your stone medley.

So just plain stucco around the windows? No shutters or brick/stone accents at all around them?

No need for anything around the windows. I would just do stone on the turret as suggested.

Maybe Stone on the front entry pillars and structure too.

Wow. Okay. Well, here are some of my inspiration photos, where I got the idea for the green windows. These windows were very expensive in comparison to plain black or brown so I guess … ooops? The windows were the only thing I was sure I liked 🤣

I suggest you pass on that shade of green. It just doesn't blend well, IMHO. Gorgeous home. I'd do it all stone. I'm not really a fan of the red brick either--what about a medium brown.

The more exterior materials you use, the more important it is to get the mix right. Our rule of thumb is no more than three. I suggest you have a look at some homes designed by Tulsa, OK architect Jack Arnold for ideas about how to blend stone, stucco, and brick.

We changed the garage a bit because of the way our trees lined up on our lot we couldn’t have the garage doors in the back. So the garage doesn’t have the bump out part that architect had planned in stone. I feel like if we stone the whole garage it will look unbalanced. So I guess I was just hoping for some opinions on where to put stone and stucco, maybe 1/2 way up stone or ? I really liked the bricks I chose to go with it but looks like mostly everyone said no to the bricks, and definitely no to the green windows/doors but definitely too late for changing those since they are already in 😂… and I actually love those

Can you change your mind about the stone, or do you have it in hand? I would do a soft white stone on the turret (much like your second inspiration picture), and stucco the rest. No dark brick please. I like your green windows, too!

@ Sammie J Already bought the stone. It looks much lighter outside though.

Also .. the turret roof and small roof over the french doors is planned to be copper, which does go nicely with the colors in the stone. I’m hopeful it will all blend nicely with the accent of course being the green windows 🙏

The green windows work great with the style of the house and will be great once you get the rest right.

Forget the stone. Forget the brick and do the whole thing in stucco.

Or do the whole thing in stone. Front. Back. Sides. Etc.

Or just do stone or brick (not both) around the base of the house only up to the first floor line. If you do that, do it all around the house, not just on the front facade.

Hmmm.. well, I did consider putting the stone up to the first floor line all around, except make the tower all stone, but the back of the house is confusing because we have a partial walkout basement. I guess we could do the stone down there, and take it up to meet the first floor line with the rest of the house. Thank you for liking my windows :)

I see your inspiration for your windows. Look VERY carefully at the second photo that you posted of your inspiration. ALL stucco; no bricks above the windows. This is a nice, clean look, I think. Even the stucco color goes well with your window choice. I would be very selective in where you use stone. It shouldn’t be an “embellishment.” It should look structural. That is why the pros suggest its limited use. Like on the tower. OR the entrance. OR the foundation base, covering the foundation block/concrete.

I *love* the green windows! I'd do stone on turret only, forget about the brick, and ditch the shutters in the builder's rendering (he only put one on a side). It's going to look beautiful.

I really like the renderings! That looks like a nice distribution of stone. It also makes clear that the soldiers get totally lost among stone (as opposed to stucco in your inspirations), so I would skip. The rear, in particular, has a bit more modern of a look and the mix of materials is nice.

I also like your green windows (ahem -- installed, guys!).

No shutters, though -- there's not enough space around almost any of the windows, between tight spacing and roof intrusions, and I think they look good as is.

No shutters, no stone, and no brick. Stucco only like the 2nd inspiration picture. It will look wonderful with your window color and not too busy and McMansiony.

love your windows - they will be stunning. Simplify to 2 materials, consider only the turret.
