What’s along the opposing wall? I feel like you want to as some dimension as the wall is so big and flat, and the bigger, as attractive as it is (I really do like that piece) is also boxy. So I am tempted by the idea of a decorative mirror, but only if the reflection is worth it ie if the opposing side is just another wall, it won’t look so hot.

Your wall requires a large piece of art or a grouping that reads like a large piece.

There are just so many things you can do - rom artwork to mirrors to lighting. I would add lamps or even wall sconces if you only have overhead lighting. Nice to be able to turn on a single light at night for ambience.

i'm wondering what the rest of the room looks like if you feel a need to '''balance'''and whether you have any ideas at all about what you like to look at or show to other people

Art is so subjective. Find something you love and frame it big and simple. Going to local art shows are a good way to acquire fantastic talent.
