What color should I paint my steps

My front porch and steps need a big makeover. We have been racking our brains trying to figure out the color/texture/style to make the steps and trim around the porch. My husband is a concrete Mason so we have options to go any direction. Please help. We are starting next week.

Why wouldn't you simply remove the peeling paint?

Cool craftsman house. Concrete is the best answer. It’s a natural material that is low maintenance. Strip off the paint and give it a good cleaning.

I agree, concrete color, if it isnt possible to get it back to concrete color, then I would use the color from your trim around the gables, which appears to be close to a concrete color.

You can go colored cncrete but please get hubbly to fix the walkway first. I like just plain concrete in most cases but maybe on yor house a colored one would look better for sure not painted

    Paint the steps? Why?

If your husband is a concrete guy, just ask him check to them over for needed repairs, clean them real well, and then pour a new sidewalk.

Another vote for natural concrete color on the steps, and repairing walkway.

Well of course we are going to remove the peeling paint. Then what? It needs a color right?

Interesting so concrete all the way up? Not sandstone? Nothing? Very interesting. Didn't even think to not go with atleast a sandstone or some sort of designer look. I'm a designer, is concrete really acceptable? No epoxy marble finish?

No, it doesn’t need a color. Powerwash and be done.

Please no sandstone or faux marble finish. Those would look garish on your beautiful house. If you must paint the porch or stairs leading up to it, the current brown works perfectly well.

Your house’s trim is very close to the color of concrete, which is why the suggestions are to just repair the steps with concrete. If you want some kind of color, do something similar to your trim.

What about this? Is this a good mix of natural stone/concrete with a tinge of color to match the brick. We would only put this where the brown steps are. I can't deal with repainting it brown. Brown hurts my soul.

No faux stamping. You have a beautiful home: let it be the star. Repour the sidewalk.

I love your house and all the details. I’m no pro but I agree with those who say no color. Natural concrete will look great and not take away from your beautiful home’s unique features.

Your picture above looks a bit pinkish on my monitor, so I say no to that. Either regular concrete color or match the color of your trim, which appears to be pretty close to concrete color. Dont try to match the brick. The concrete color is fine with your brick, as is the trim color in your gables.

Ok. I hear you all and I'm pretty sure we're gonna go with your recommendations. I really appreciate it. Earlier, I mistakenly posted the wrong picture. I wanted to show you guys this. It's a granite finish that looks very natural and very similar to the shingles on our roof. Not necessarily this color but I think this finish is pretty cool. If you guys still say no, I'll just go with the concrete even though the designer in me thinks I'm selling myself short by not having my steps be a cool color. 😎

That look is nice, but keep the color similar to your trim or regular concrete. It’s a little upscale from plain ol’ concrete.
