Yes, it is too big but I love it. IMO if you were to change the coffee table and end tables it would change the feel of the scale of the chandelier.

Your chairs are missing the rounded organic shoulders the inspo pic chairs have. The light does not seem to work as well with your square furniture. Also the organic shaped tables by Jake Arnold, in the same color as the light pulls it together in that photo.

You have more of an industrial feeling going on with the black iron. Not sure you'd like the organic tables in your place.

The light is really cool. Here's a couple of suggestions for the space, while still working with the things you already have. Change out your coffee table with some curves. I like this black one to ground the space and helps soften the look of end tables. I love tripod floor lamps, but it's competing with the end table, so find a new use for it in another room. Replace it and the current lamp with two matching white lamps that have some weight to them to give balance to the sofa area.

The artwork may not be your taste, but add something that isn't quite so big and something with white in it to brighten the space. Adding in white pieces can bring life to a neutral color scheme. Cool space and good job with the chandelier selection!

Your natural material pendant doesn't seem industrial to me as much as asian coloniial -- an exotic global hotel lounge bar. So the globe artwork is just the right choice but could be more striking if put into a wider and more elaborate carved or rattan frame (you can get more dramatic frames online without breaking the bank).

I would also add pillows to the sofa and chairs that are a bit exotic or lush. not theae exactly but in this spirit)

If you wanted to keep spending money, maybe you could get a darker oriental rug, but what I see looks fine and might be best for daylight hours.

If possible, I would lower the fixture a few inches. Given the familiarity of the work itself it doesn't matter the light will partially block some views of it. I would lower it so it just about bisects the two circles of the globe work -- at the equatorial line.

But WHEN you fall in love with something in an inspo ? You have to look a t the whole of what is making you love it.

Love the light! To make it work, get a larger, round coffee table. Also, everything seems so neutral - add a couple of accent colors in colorful artwork over the sofa instead of the brown piece(s), and textured, colorful pillows that blend all of the colors in the room together. Green and goldish/yellow would look great.

Is there another place for the wine rack? A large piece of dimensional wall art would look much better there.

It’s a nice light. I understand Paul’s points about the rounded chairs in inspiration pic sort of blending with the shape of the light. But on the other hand, the round shape of the light brings some nice balance to the predominantly square shapes in your room. l think your instincts are good. I would suggest just adding a throw on one of the chairs - something plush - maybe even luxe!

At first glance, my gut squinted and said, ”That’s a really big light. Big, big light. Wow, such a big light.”

I like the fixture, I like the oversized ornamental quality of it, but I am not as fond of it lit, showing bare bulbs inside the woven portion. I would probably not use this as primary lighting for the room. I would probably put very dim warm bulbs in it but actually depend on table lamps or floor lamps to actually provide the lighting at night. (I actually have a couple of ceiling fixtures I like very much, but really don't like the light they cast at all. I never turn them on. They just look nice on the ceiling).

Is this a trend that we will fast forward 10 years and wonder what the hell were we thinking? My local kitchen design store..The cone of silence.

No, I think it looks rather nice as does your livingroom decor. To me, it looks more like a light or lamp than a chandelier tho. I would keep it. Here's a suggestion: I would exchange the dark coffee table for a round glass topped coffee table instead. That would look really nice and airy.

I agree with getting a bigger more organiic coffee table to help ground and connect the light to the rest of the space. Your room is large enough to carry the light but some slight changes are needed. The first picture that you posted - the light against the art above the couch just doesnt' work but - maybe in real life ti does but in the photo no. And decluttering will help bring the sense of calm that the light itself invokes.

It‘s a great light, and there is nothing wrong with your space.

There is never something "wrong" with a space if you love the space.

All of it. If you walk in each day and feel joy, or calm or whatever it is you were seeking when you created the space.

You're asking if it is too big? Too big for what? The size of the room? Probably not. It's a statement! It's fun, it is even a bit daring!

But IF you removed the light ( emphasis on "if" there) ................................do you l.o.v.e you room.

What I said, and what others ( Paul ) have hinted at, is that IF you love the light? Let it do what it needs to do.

The first step when you get a bit lost in a woods is stop. Figure out where you got off the path. In a room? It's very helpful to first remove, and in this case it's the "too small things". The too many little things. Might you need a new cocktail table ? Yes. Would a pair of matched lamps be nice? Yes. Could you save up for new chairs, less light and leggy?

But if you're looking for a clearing in a tree crowded forest? Cut some trees.

Try what I said, take an hour and take some stuff out, ( as up above ) take another pic. It's actually MOSTLY helpful for you.......and then decide is it the light? Or something else.

A bit bigger, a bit less where it matters.

I love that light. I think the room size is ok to handle it. The items you have in the room are out of balance with the scale of the fixture. Too many small items. I would start by removing everything but the furniture ( unless you plan on replacing any of it ) .

I would get some drapes for the sliders, pull the side tables away from the sofa a little to add some width, get that taller plant on some sort of stand so it gives a little height. Is the picture above the sofa individual frames? maybe rehang them with a little more space between them . Just some initial thoughts.

Start slow - change one or 2 things, then live with it for a bit. Then change a couple more. This will stop you from wasting money or diving in too far.

Its a great space, just step back and look at the whole instead of small snap shots - that helps cut back on all the little busy things that can quickly overwhelm a space.

So ok all you girls and boys, kitties and cats, goblins and ghosts... FYI: the reason why the OP’s light is “out of scale“ is because it is an OVERSIZED LIGHT that is MEANT TO BE OUT OF SCALE.

I removed quite a bit of the clutter and the wine rack, lifted the palm. I agree with it needing bigger lamps, a round coffee table, more chubby chairs and lower and different art. The tile flooring is getting ripped up and replaced with white oak. So many ideas I can’t wait to implement!

Oh, and removed the tripod and added the matching lamp for now.

That whole thing is ridiculous. The lamps do not have to ”match” - unless you want them to.

The lamps do not have to match with any style of space - but particularly with certain styles, it can actually be better if they don’t match.

I think your style leans toward Industrial/ Industrial Chic, with a touch of Industrial Glam.

Take the floor plants flanking the sideboard, and cluster with the newly boosted palm in that corner.

Take the small ones, on the end tables, to the sideboard top, along with the one on the coffee table.: )

There is nothing wrong with negative SPACE.

A throw on one chair, not both. Lose the white pillows on the couch. In fact? I can't think of a room that needs white pillows unless a bedroom. Go to Marshalls. ! Browse the pillows. Add a throw for the couch while you're there. Not white......any of it. You can even find coffee table books.

When a room is at least temporarily a bit of cobble together? Of things you need to make work? The reduction of non matched ( lamps) for a pair? Soothing. Calming.

As for the example from poster above? No the three lamps do not match, and it works because the standing lamp is a.l.o.n.e with no table .

In your case? The match is a better "frame" for the sofa,

love the changes - FWIW i think nicely textured pillows look great on a leather couch, provides good contrast to the slickness of the leather and they both shine as a result (something to think about when you’re looking) - not suggesting this pillow just the idea
