Voles and chips get at your lilies!?!? Have you planted them deep enough? Oriental lilies should be planted around 8" or so -- I have a hard time imagining the critters getting down that deep to do any damage. But I'm not a chip or a vole so IDK...but they've never bothered mine at any of the houses I've been in.

i plant my lilies in pots since they apparently like being rootbound. I put a piece of hardwsre cloth on top until they start to come up. Maybe somone can tell me if I need to check the pots at some point…

I no longer plant lilies because of the red lily leaf beetle. But I did just plant and replant some perennials and shrubs in mesh bags, because I've had voles eat the roots of my plants. I used something called Digger's Root Guard bags. I can't vouch for their performance since I just put them in the ground a few weeks ago, but it might be something you can look into.

Hey, Ken - I don't post often, but I am RoxannA, not RoxannE, lol. And I have no luck whatsoever growing roses.

Gardening for the past 60 years has been my joy, altho I cannot claim to be great at it. I do have fun, tho, and that is good enough for me! Getting too old and creaky now and cannot do as much as I one did (who knew that would happen?? lol). Mother Nature is slowly taking over and I must let it happen -- to an extent. No more room in the garden beds, so I branched into more containers and hanging pots. I find it nearly impossible to cull plants in the ground,,,

New passion? That is definitely a thought!
