Help me create a "bar" in my dining room

Hi there. I was at a friend's house and they had a great transitional console table/accent cabinet in their dining room that they used as a bar, with bottles displayed on top. It looked really pretty.

I've been looking around to figure out how I could create something similar. My first inclination was to get an arched glass door cabinet and use a piece like that as a "bar" to store bottles, etc. But in looking around, everything nice is more than $2k and I don't have that to put into this idea, unfortunately. I also don't want a piece that has wine bottle storage or hanging glasses in it, we have a wine fridge that we use for that.

So now, I'm thinking maybe just an accent cabinet or a unique console table (but it would probably be better if there was some storage in it).

Our dining room furniture is more traditional in style with cherry finish. I'd love to find a piece that looks higher end, but doesnt cost higher end - which may not exist.

What would you get for something like this that doesn't break the bank (under $800?)

have you checked out Thrift Stores?

Sounds like a hutch top mounted to the wall would work, then find a sideboard or base cabinet.

Painting it all the same color would unit any bad finish you may have.

I need to see your space so post pics here in a comment DO NOT start another post. I will say I never like the look of booze bottles on display but I dolike a nice buffet in a DR so maybe that could work where you could store the booze behind doors and still use the cabinet for mixing drinks .

Have you checked out using a bar cart? They are usually not expensive at all. If you want something very large it will of course cost more $$$ but you are still unlikely to get into the $2k range. Generally they are less than $500

I'm not sure I understand your description of what you saw at your friend's house that you liked. But the online vintage shop Chairish has all kinds of consoles and cabinets and you can easily find things under $1000, although if you are getting it shipped, how far it needs to go will up the overall price

Consignment stores-prowl them weekly and use your imagination when you see an interesting piece. Take measurements of your space and keep them on your phone under “notes”. Remember, unless you find an antique, you could paint what you find.
