To pendant or not to pendant? Need objective help!

Our open concept, split bedroom new build will have a 4' x 6' island with electric cooktop, ceiling recessed range hood exhaust above the cooktop and there will also be a non-structural black steel truss passing perpendicular over one end of the island. The flat ceilings are just over 10'. Although I have our simple linear light fixture that will be centered over the island but not directly over the cooktop, I am starting to feel it's pretty busy and am now leaning towards just a couple more recessed lights above the island (or semi-flush mounted spot/downlights). We do already have some ambient and task recessed lighting. I don't require island pendants to act as a "separation" between the kitchen and living, nor would they be in the sight line to the wall of windows in the living room. The 1st photo is not our kitchen, but it's our inspiration house - same layout, same wood ceiling although it's the opposite direction with the steel trusses. The LR is behind the photographer. The 2nd photo shows a similar style of steel truss, but we only have 3 and they will be 8' feet apart from kitchen to LR. 3rd photo is the light fixture (longer of the two). I'm torn, it's hard to picture but thought I'd grab some opinions - this site has been invaluable during our labor of love build. Thank you.
