My advice to all of my clients is to sit down and figure how you cook. If you have never needed for instance a deep fryer do not add one now. Have you ever needed an air fryer in an oven? IMo the more functions an appliance has over and above what it needs to do the more stuff to go wrong. A kitchen is designed and outfitted with the stuff YOU need not anyone else. I run a catering biz from my home and have never needed an airfryer on the counter or in the oven I have worked in many commercial kitchens with steam ovens and they were often down when we needed them most . I have a 36" 6 burner all gas range with a wok burner which I needed. I aslo have electric double wall ovens which I use all the time. I have one induction poratble burner for melting chocolate and doing very delicate sauces . I do not want or need an induction range . My advice is visit a really good applaince store ideally one that runs demos on weekends talk to a good person who has lots of info for all the new stuff and decide what you need not what you think someone else will need

Patricia’s advice is solid. Be careful of being “oversold” features you don’t need. Last time I bought a free standing range I had to keep asking the salesperson “Why do I need this feature?”

If you’re considering one of the upscale companies (Viking, SubZero) and they have a store of their own within driving distance, go there. Those specialist really know their products better than the “floor” salespeople who need to know every brand.

Air fry feature of a full-size oven is basically the convection function with the circulation fan running continuously. It normally cycles on/off during convection baking. Keep in mind that the oven cavity is considerably larger than a countertop air fryer so takes more time to heat up and more energy to maintain that heat.
