I think you really need to think about changing your countertops before painting your cabinets.

From what I see in the adjacent areas, there’s already a lot of grey going on. I would look at painting cabinets either same Navajo White or a complimentary soft color to NW, and do island in a wood stain. Maybe look at light colors for LVP that don’t scream so much grey.

I have a medium-stained pine end table that had a ton of scratches in it. I was having a party so wanted to do something quick to clean it up. I used a stain-marker pen and a wipe-away rag to blend in the bigger gouges and then a bees wax/walnut oil product that I found on Etsy called Grandma's Gold for the small scratches. Grandma's Gold needs to be refrigerated and it is not cheap, but it worked like magic! Anyway, I would clean the cabinets well, and then spruce them up with the product(s) of your choice, get some new flooring, countertops and sink, paint the walls something other than gray, and change the light fixtures to something that won't show a glaring Edison bulb. You could add a tile backsplash if it's in your budget. Don't get rid of the gray in your whole house, but start transitioning to something else starting with your kitchen upgrade.

I would paint the cabinets a light blue or a blueish-gray. I would replace the counters with light colored counters. I would also paint the island.

I love gray but not for cabinets and with yellow toned trim not ever. I do agree the cabinets are very dtsed and I would not spend the money painting them for sure not professionally. If you have never painted cabinets before do not go there now. Clean all those really well touch up stain where it is worn if you must keep the cabinets. I think the plans you have are expensive and to cheap out at the most important part is never good planning. Have you checkout the cost for painting properly? I see lots of things that could really improve that kitchen if you did new cabinets with all drawers for base ones , a counter depth fridge , proper venting for the range . I would suggest you start with the lighting change all your bulbs to LED 4000K in every ficture and pot light in the space . Instantly it will change how the space looks. If changing flooring now is a must then get enough extra at this time to work on a redo for the kitchen. I agree the carpet needs to go for sure . . IMO the biggest change right now would be to do white trim no yellow and a new wall color not greige for the whole living space . When you are ready for the kitchen update come back here with a to scale floor plan and you will get tons of really good help for a new look and better function

Lighter counters, mid toned flooring through the entire space, under cabinet ligting and a coodinating backsplash. Also yes to single level island. Touch up the cabinets - they are FINE.

You may end up needing to repaint the walls to something even a bit warmer, complementary.

I think you'll be surprised at the level of transformation you get with that.

Your cabinets and floor complement each other. I would spend the entire budget on making the island one level and replacing all contertops with a neutral, natural stone. I’d paint out all walls and trim to the same off white, including the pantry door. The color palette below is lovely.

You could paint the island or make it not by level I would not paint the cupboards there's Wood Cleaners that bring out the brilliant of the wood paint your kitchen a soft white or like Jan said but your countertops can be a light color but I did like that gray color but not on the walls

I also agree with the advice to clean and touch up the cabinets, they look to be good quality. Gray with warm colors can look nice but it is tough to pull off. Since gray is falling out of favor, I would lean into the warm tones for your kitchen. This will reduce your choices and you'll have fewer worries about "matching" so your decisions should be easier.

It looks like the adjoining room is painted a dark gray. Are you happy with that space or do you intend to change it as well?

What's the budget for all of this and have you gotten estimates on cabinet painting? you may be shocked when you find out what a pro cabinet painter charges. (I had mine done 4 yrs ago, ) Do not go w/a cheap painter. Find out all the steps they do in prepping and painting. make them tell you in detail.

if you really like those countertops, I would NOT do any of those gray tones. your countertop is yellow/beige. you also need to get your floors FIRST, since they will determine your cabinet color

(personally, if you're going through all the trouble of changing everything, get diff countertops. you can do a nice granite or quartz)

one more thing, you're trying to pick colors in that kitchen w/very warm, yellow lighting. you're not going to get a true reading. upgrade your bulbs to more of a natural light (4000K usually is good, no higher)

Otherwise, everything will take on a warm/yellowish hue

I suggest you hire an interior designer to help you- they can quickly advise you on what is the most valuable change to make and ensure you love the kitchen and it flows with the rest of your home. They also narrow down choices so you don’t get overwhelmed. Also beware it is a slippery slope- if you replace one element it makes the others look even more dated. We painted our kitchen cabinets after getting a bid to reface them ($$$). Designer said it was the best paint job she had seen and it lasted about 4 years before getting scratched and scuffed and old looking.

New counters, new backsplash, new lights, new floor, new stools, some paint :)
