Torn between two tile looks

One look would have the white hexagon shaped tile for the floor and the matching subway like tile around the shower walls, as well as by the window surrounding the freestanding white tub.

The second look, would has the busier pattern square tile for the floor and the lightest color tile for shower surround. Trying to decide between the other green tiles for the window and wall around the tub.

The dilemma is that we much prefer the size and shapes of the white marble tile, but really like the green theme which matches very well with our vanity. I’m still shopping around to see if I can find larger green tiles at other stores, but it might be cost prohibitive.

I would just like peoples thoughts.

Go for the green! It’s gorgeous and different.

Lol, yes that‘s exactly what I’ve been saying (white/generic). Just love the size and shapes so much more.

Go for the white look. Your vanity is beautiful and will stand out so much more in a room of white and marble tile. You have a great view of greenery out your window, let a serene white bathroom with that lovely vanity be a backdrop to the view.

In general, I dislike marble, but I like the idea of the green subway paired with the marble hexagon.

I really like the penny rounds, but -- if you go with them -- you must get the best of the best installers. We've seen lots of poorly installed penny rounds on this board.

I like the tile with the design too.

Both looks would be nice, no doubt. The decision comes down to YOUR preferences, and we don’t know you. Will you want to keep this bathroom for a while, meaning if you get tired of the look would you mind just redoing it in 5 or so years, or will you need to live with it? If it’s the latter, think long and hard about what you’ll want to see longer, what might be less trendy….at least that’s how I approach most of these decisions. (We’re in the process of ordering materials for our last bathroom reno; we like green, and I really love the look of the deeper green Zellige tiles….so pretty. When it came down to it I decided it will be easier and much cheaper to swap out a green vanity than redoing all the tile, once we get tired of it, so we’re going with a classic marble. I also see Kendrah’s point, : the vanity will stand out more on the white tile. Both looks will be beautiful, good luck!

I like both versions. Can you share your tile sources for them.

These are from Floor and Decor. We are now looking at these tiles too: If we use the first below, it would be the shower floor and up one wall. Then the original light tiles on the opposing walls.

The second (hex) tile would be just the bathroom floor. Just ordered a sample. Perhaps bigger tham we want. We’ll see.

I just looked at the F&D site to see the flower tile (wondering if photos would show that it probably has a lot of open grout which it does in photos) and it says it's not suitable for shower or bathroom floors, only for walls. I don't think one wall done as an accent is a timeless look either.

well, its kind of moot now, as I see that there’s some marble in there and marble is out for is because of our water.

Speaking of grout, there will be a lot of it in the shower. Does the green come in a larger size?

Not even a close contest. You have done a great job pulling the green tiles together into a great look with your vanity. Go for it.

Both look nice but green is the winner IMO

I dislike too many different tiles in bathrooms you get tired of them quicker so I do 12 x24 floor tile usually porcealian I iuse the same tile on the shower walls sam color then the floor in the shower same color but it usually has to be samller then if yu really want an accent tile do one vertcal strip not centered and use that same tile for the backsplash. It give you freedom to change wall color add different accent colors down the road and IMO not trendy just simple. It is a small room and can very quickly become overtaken with too many choices. I love the vanity let it be the star.

I love the green tile that you found, and I think it will look lovely with your vanity. The white ones will not look bad at all they are classic, but I love the bold green look.

Another vote for the green. Love the penny tiles and make sure your tile setter is experienced with them. My friends just did blue penny tiles in their new bathroom and they love them! No slipping!

The only concern, as has been stated, is that you may tire of the the patterned tile. The one you chose is very subtle, and if you love green (as many of us do) then your bathroom will truly stand out.

Interesting- I am looking for tile for my master bath and went to Floor and Decor a few days ago for the second time. First time was just to get ideas, The more recent trip I realized I should at least get some samples as they are really nice about returning and exchanging. I brought home a few and I'm pretty sure the marble hex was one (or at least very very similar).

    have you decided yet?

How does the green tile look with the marble? I would like to see the first look but with green around the tub and window. I like the longer green tile. (Mainly because the smaller looks like it is glass and I don’t like glass tile. But that’s personal preference.)

Would the penny tile be for the shower floor with either choice?

All of the tiles you have chosen a really pretty, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. That said, my least favorites are- the square patterned tile and lightest subway from the second look. Also the flower mosaic, but it looks like you have already ruled that one out.

The fusion hex green looks very pretty. I would use that with the other green tiles. I like it better than your first choice.

I think this bathroom will be more unique with the green plan. It’s subtle and will encourage a second look because it’s not the same as everyone else’s.
