Hi there

as it seems not possible to send a direct message to the mighty power behind the Houzzze, perhaps someone sees this and can pass it on

since about 2 weeks ago, the website does not show actual comments when I click on a thread, just the "comments (4)" or some such, cant activate it

this only happens when I use my Ipad and there aew quite a number of folks with the very same problem.

help, anyone?

Thanks, Bye, Lin

The same thing happened on my phone. I will bet you are using Safari on your Ipad?

They want you on the app. So ? My answer is no, and I don't want the app, so I no longer Houzz on my phone while ending the day with a glass at my gathering spot.

This message has been sent via my I mac and desk. On Firefox. Get over it, Houzz.

I did email them two weeks ago from the Firefox I mac, got mumbo jumbo about the app as answer to all things Houzz and said......"No, you did not answer my question, and no I do not like the app. and advertising barrage."

    o dear,

you mean, that is a feature? like, they slowly kill it?

I hate using my phone for long texting and stuff, too tiny screen, eyes are not what they used to, even with glasses,

did not know that there is an app and surely wont use it

    hang in there

    bye, Lin

Agree they are trying to push people to the app (which i am also not doing) — FWIW i also notice if i am not logged in to the site, comments won’t appear on the discussion once I open it, just another thing to keep an eye out for -

How about the latest change, as of yesterday, that eliminated the little green circle next to the discussion in the "Notifications" section. The green circle denoted that you haven't yet read the latest posting, and was very easy to see. Now they've just used a SLIGHTLY darker white to show the unread messages. WHY???? Why are tech people so clueless????

This happened to me yesterday on my laptop. Can you even use the app on a laptop?

Yes, it’s happening to me, too (Safari on iPad). I contacted them, and they sent me a prompt reply:

Hopefully you can read that, if not, they’re suggesting I switch to Google Chrome if none of the other troubleshooting suggestions work.

I did everything except switching to Chrome. Still not working.

I’d rather not switch browsers, especially not knowing if that will even fix the issue. And I will not get the app.

Right now I have to go to the op’s activity and find the thread, if I want to post, like, see replies, etc. I cannot start a thread of my own, can’t click on my notifications, and again, can’t read replies, like, or post without going to a user’s activity (which is impossible on super long or long, old threads as many comments don’t show up).

I’m seeing more and more people having this issue, so do wish Houzz would fix it on their end. I don’t have any problems like this on any other website.

    This might be another glitch.

Do any of you see different usernames for the same op? For example, I might see that JF2021 started a post but when I open it the username appears as Jane_Foster. There is an example like that on the first page right now. Every time I see it, one username appears to be made up of initials and the second one appears to be in the format of the first and last name of someone with those initials.

Sometimes the username changes when I open the post and sometimes it fluctuates between being consistently JF2021 or Jane_Foster the next time I read the thread.

I noticed this because sometimes I will scroll the left side of the main page to find the post that a particular person started, the username, instead of the photo or title that was created with the post.

Diana, I now have a red circle next to my notifications bell. I use a laptop and Chrome. When I click the notifications, it's just a list and doesn't indicate unread notifications.

I refuse to download the app, who knows what insidious things one agrees to in their user agreement?

The forums portions of this site are a combination of at least three that I know of - gardenweb, ivillage and Hzz. Hzz keeps kicking the consolidation can down the road, eventually, it's going to catch up with them.

I honestly think they don't care that much about the user experience in the forums, all they care about is the clicks.

Friday, I haven’t noticed that, but probably because I’m having so much trouble seeing much of anything! :D

The first decor/etc message board I ever joined was BHG … then HGTV, then Gardenweb. We’re talking around 1998 B.H. (before Houzz). I never, ever had problems on those sites, even with AOL dial-up!

Jilly and Jan Moyer, where did you find a contact mailadress for houzzze? I read up and down the website without success

and yes, I do use Safary on my Ipad, perhaps I should test firefox, but neverever g**gle chrome, ah well, so I rather stick to using my larg computer for Gardenweb

    best wishes, Lin

" How about the latest change, as of yesterday, that eliminated the little green circle next to the discussion in the "Notifications" section. "

I still see the green dot in "Notifications" (using my PC and Firefox). FWIW.

I hate that when I follow a notification about new postings, it no longer takes me to the new posting (only to the thread).

I think what is happening, is you have a tech weenie group of "younguns" driving the Houzz bus. They're not even close to the actual users.

"We can sell a ton of gadgets to Pro's and help them "

    "We can be Amazon!!!!"

Heads up: You can't be Amazon, and you won't be. As we say? "Dance with the girl who brought you"

It’s working for me now! Everyone else?

I appreciate they heard us and fixed it. :)

Ditto!!! @ Jilly! Working on the phone with Safari! Gee..........wonder if Becky Harris passed the gripes along? I realize Becky is in Atlanta, but she IS a Houzz contributor of "click content" : )

I already commented on this thread a few days ago about this problem but I thought I might say it again because it has occurred on multiple occasions since then.

I am hesitant to make a new post but I want to bring this to someone's attention and I have contacted Houzz about it. I can see two different usernames on SEVERAL posts. If I open the Design Delima forum or any other forum, I see several different posts listed but the usernames are different from when I click on the actual post. For example, @kendrah made a recent post about refrigerators. I see what appears to be an actual name after I open that post. The same goes for @pahomestead, @tw schmitt, @nee poppraisehim, and several others. It could be that this is not a problem for many people but I did send a message to someone who this is happening with and they were unaware until I showed them a screenshot.

@ilikefriday I have noticed that too. There was one specific post especially where the OP had a user name and also an HU. (I thought maybe the user on 2 different devices.) But I have noticed a lot more HU comments recently and I wonder if it has to do with that glitch.

I did use the app but started using a browser because it has more functionality. If the app would allow editing, linking, and tagging, I would use it again.

    @k8cd

That is interesting. I have not noticed any HU usernames like that but I have noticed webuser... usernames. Yesterday I could see several posts with different usernames.

I knew I couldn't be the only person seeing this!

For any of you who are interested, Houzz responded to my inquiry. This is how they suggest removing your name from posts.

I was able to read threads and get onto the site on my IPad and my phone (not the app! NEVER the app!) but I wasn't able to get onto it on my MAC until today. I might have been able to get onto it yesterday or Monday but I was out of town Monday and catching up yesterday, so who knows. Same problem as you others had but on my MAC.

Do any of you know how to get Houzz to delete pornographic "Followers"?

I mentioned this situation a couple of weeks ago on another thread, but no one responded to me. I’m glad i am not the only one having tech problems. I was having the same issues @Jilly described - and maybe same as others, but i haven’t read through all comments here as yet. I could only access comments by going to an OP’s activity page and/or my activity page, and I had to be in desktop mode on my iphone. Now I think I still see some of these issues, but not as much. I can view comments now and post comments now, while in the regular view on the forum site, and also while in Mobile setting (I think... because to tell you the truth, i am just sort of flowing with the glitches at this point. So I am not really paying that much attention. I just do what works at any given moment. But it definitely seems improved over what it was a couple of weeks ago.) I only use an iphone. I don’t use the Houzz app.
