not sure what to do with this room

Hi Houzz friends. I am really having a hard time with this room and am looking for some advice. There are two entries (see pic 4) one from kitchen and one from hallway, a wet bar, fireplace, patio door to screened in porch - it’s a lot!!! Any ideas or pics that anyone can share? We already have a living room, a dining room and an island with stools for the fam. Thinking more of a lounge, but furniture placement is very challenging. Any help would be appreciated.

A detailed floor plan would help us.

I'm doing something similar. I'm making my odd open area more of a bar area with 4 swivel chairs around a cocktail table or I'll look for a convertible table that can also be raised for game playing.

In your space maybe a big TV where the open shelving is (that needs to go)... or maybe a TV above the fireplace for an actual bar type of feel. A chandelier, then open wall-mounted shelves with colorful backlit bottles above your bar.

The snugs usually have the TV and not monster ones usually like we do.

So that the space flows with your adjacent kitchen which looks like recently redone, here are my suggestions. I would pain the fireplace bricks a soft white and install a mantel, install a proper bar area, use you 2 tub chairs with a round coffee table to fill the empty space. Four chairs would be nice but it doesn't look like you have the space for that (no measurements are specified. It's difficult to see what colour your walls are painted, I'm presuming they're a very light taupe which most likely continues into your kitchen area.

Who is in your household? Kids, adults, how many? What is your budget? What does a lounge mean to you? Space for adults to drink? When would you use this as opposed to using your living room? Will you ever use the fireplace?

I really like the picture below of the brick and wall painted white. It really opens up the space. Do you intend to use those actual chairs or are they just there for now? Everyone seems to be in love with four chairs in a lounge space these days. I'm not a fan of the look and not sure how to do it without blocking access to the patio door.

Did you rip up hardwood for tile?

Draw and measure all of it, every wall, window , and passage and the fire

Mark what is tile and what is not tile.

Right now.......the goal is to make it look like living space and not a utility space: ) Accurate dimensions of everything including fireplace.

It looks like you could use some artwork over the bar area (or shelves) and the fireplace. Maybe look at adding some plants, a different rug, and perhaps some side tables and ottoman.

Would the tall shelf fit next to the built-in? It might work better to place the shelf next to the built-in and then place the fridge where the shelf currently is. Then place open shelves over the built-in and perhaps look at a larger rug with a small side table or ottoman. Note the images below of shelves, bar areas, and the side tables/ottomans/artwork with the two chairs.
