Is a polyester couch really bad for your health?

Hello,
Is polyester a fabric we should be concerned about? I bought an armchair with the description of performance velvet- thinking that it was velvet. I found out it’s actually 100% polyester. Is this concerning? Anyone else try to avoid polyester - I’ve read that heat lets it release carcinogens and polyester is also bad for the lungs especially for children. I appreciate any input. Thank you
