Beautiful view!

Your dining area will look/function great with a chandelier. No matter what you choose, the fixture will be in the line of sight when looking across the table through the DR window. But your eye will become accustomed to the fixture and it will become less noticeable.

A linear fixture with a narrow profile installed perpendicular to the window wall will be less noticeable than a round fixture. You will need to turn your DR table 90 degrees.

A clear glass fixture will be less noticeable than a opaque material fixture. But clear glass lighting can be bothersome to some people.

Do you have recessed lighting in the DR area?

Install dimmers on light switches.

What size is your DR table for everyday and extended for holidays?

What color are the room/adjoining rooms’ metal finishes?

It’s really a million dollar view. The view is everything. Amazing.

I suggest a flush or semi-flush. Something dimmable.

I will try to answer some of the questions.
-Yes, I have new recessed lighting in the kitchen and living-room area that are on dimmers.
-My dining-room table is 45” x 63” (fully extended), which I have extended all the time.

• the room adjoining metal finishes are light bronze and black around the fireplace.
  I like the idea of turning the table perpendicular to the patio door wall.
  I really like original light fixtures like some of them that have been posted. I think I would opt more for a chandelier…

I like the look of iron-armed chandeliers as Beverly posted above. They give you something of interest that doesn’t detract from the view. There are similar chandeliers in wood that may be more cohesive with your view.

The first one is from Wayfair, the other two are from Ferguson’s.

I am not saying this to be critical, but it's interesting the things we screen out that are there vs. worrying about screening things that aren't there.

Personally I would expect to see decorative lighting over the table and I would not find that distracting--I'd look through it-- but I would find the barbeque grille under the lumpy grey cover and storage bin for whatever that is, distracting.

Most people screen out utilitarian things very easily.

I agree. It is a nice view and you will still see it even with a chandelier in the room. Just avoid a large drum or something with lots of little shades and opt for a more open fixture.

Definitely more airy, I agree. It’s true, I probably won’t see the fixture after a while.

Yep, the grill cover is distracting.

I agree the grill cover is more of an detraction that ny light fixture will be . Your eye will just ignore the light when looking at the view .

These Orbs (Crystorama) were popular for a reason. Unfortunately they got a bit overdone in the past 10 years. In my previous house I had one over my breakfast table and a really big one in the vaulted living space of the guest house. They fill up the space, but do not block the views through them. They come in different sizes and finishes

Hi. I would add more art to both walls in the livingroom----possibly a lovely metal sculpture, an arrangement of paintings, a nice tapestry, even a large branch that has been spray painted mounted on the wall would be interesting. Possibly a large artificial tree in the corner or some exotic houseplants for the livingroom.
