Help with area rugs

Just finished painting in the sunroom looking for area rugs. The room is 9.5 wide and 22ft long. The middle opens to the kitchen. The rug that is in the picture IS Not being used only for reference of size! That is a 6x6 and I have a heat duck to deal with also. We have heated floors in this room. So my question is do I do 2 matching rugs on either sides or 1 long rug? The window on the couch side is angled so I have that also to deal with. What can I do here? What color rugs and sizes.
Thank you ahead of time

Your furniture arrangement is quite awkward. Is the fireplace movable? Are you open to ideas on how to re-design the layout of the furniture?

Do you definitely use all the sliding doors?

We use the 2 doors towards the left hand side. where the sitting chair is with the small table that is not staying there. The fireplace doesn't move easily we would have to move the gas line. I would be open to different furniture arrangements, I have tried to move it around. would love to hear what everyone has to say.

I did have the couch under the window but moved it.

Your rug is too far under the furniture... no need to touch the baseboard. They have 20' long runners that would look great.

Agree with Paul about the rug placement. It looks so awkward with the rug shoved all the way back in the corner. Is it because you are concerned about traffic/dog prints on that rug? If so, you have the wrong rug.

I am confused do you have heated floors or forced air heating . The floor duct is forced air so which is it? I agree a runner is probably the best choice with how you have the furniture .The chair seems very close to the FP and the spot kind of out by itself maybe a different choice for furniture more chairs instead of a sofa.

I really like the runner rug , thank you. There is both forces air and heated floors in this room.

I am open to removing furniture. Would like to see what you guys recommend.

Try this, and then repost updated pics in the comments section here. Place your two chairs to flank the fireplace, sort of angled but facing each other, with a small coffee table in front of the fireplace. Center the sofa table on the wall. If this arrangement works, all of the doors will be accessible. Then finish off the room with a long runner-type rug (might have to choose carpet and have it bound to make it fit the room), roman blinds, and artwork.

Sammie J I will move it around like that tonight. I looked yesterday into getting carpet bound and that looks to be the best option for this weird size room. If I flank the chairs on each side of the fireplace I do lose 1 of the doors to the outside, the left side of the fireplace. I am ok with the losing the door. I will post pics tonight after I move it around. Thank you

Maybe I have been to focused on looking out the windows!

Okay 2 different ways and I think I actually like the couch on the window?? Option 1

Option 2 couch against the window

Carpet store remnant they can have it bound.

The sofa by the window looks better - and the way you have the chairs makes a nice conversation area!

I saw your recent successful mantle renovation. It's bright and cheerful. Why is this area so devoid of color and texture? Even your Santa looks like he's wearing brown.

Paul, I don't know why I can't pull this together... However I do think with the change of the layout I think this helps much better!!!!

From a Feng Shui perspective, sofas backed up to windows is not the best; and why would a sofa be backed up to windows in a sunroom ? I understand people advised you to do this, and if you like it, you like it. But just saying, imo, and from my perspective, it’s not the way,

I see you have a carpet remnant, and I was going to suggest carpeting . I think a neutral colored space is fine, and if it’s a sunroom are you planning to have plants in there? You could also add a couple of plants with blooming flowers, if you wanted to bring in more vibrant color.

Off topic, but where is the rug you were using from? It’s gorgeous!! Thanks and good luck with your project.

Wildcat blue thank you! The rug is from target

I think you might enjoy this space more if you use one layout for summer and one for winter..without seeing more of your interior space..it is hard to tell what you see when furniture is facing into the house…and how you will use the space each season…is it comfy and bright and warm in the winter?..mostly …sunrooms are more functional if there are some activity options…because it seems sort of separate from the home….a game room?..reading room?…tables for puzzles?…projects?….tv room for kids ?

I moved the furniture, got 2 new chairs and a rug. Look better now? I do really like the couch against the sliding glass door we don't use. With this design you feel more involved into the kitchen we used this room a lot over the holidays. But now the curtains??
