Kitchen Back Splash

Is it ever acceptable (aesthetically) to mix materials used for a backsplash? We’ve chosen quartz for counter tops but recently learned that it may pose a “scorching” or at minimum a “yellowing” risk if also installed for the backsplash especially behind a gas range. Unfortunately installing a backguard or riser isn’t advisable for our particular model (GE Profile 30” residential) so we’re trying to identity other feasible options.
One is to use the quartz for the backsplash to the right and left of the range and install tile in the area behind/above the range. This would be done in a decorative framed out design. Several folks have said that this would look odd and that the standard approach is to use the same material throughout the backsplash surfaces in the entire kitchen. So for example, if we choose tile it should be installed all through the backsplash areas vs a mix of quartz and tile. (We’re also factoring impact on resale value down the line.)
Any input and/or recommendations? We’re in a major time crunch right now.
Thank you!
