The big vein look is over as well. In order for people to make a good recommendation we need to know what you have chosen for your cabinets.

None of them. The grey ship has sailed and the fake plastic surface is not attractive.

Another none of the above vote. No big gray veins especially since we don't know the layout and if there'd be problematic angles where the slab would be cut with the potential for poor matching.

Another "none of the above" vote. For me, the issue isn't that it's gray, but that it's that I think veined counter tops never look right to me when they're finished at edges and angles.

My reaction was the opposite - why have fake stone, when there are so many beautiful non-stone options? I couldn't figure out how to say it until I read yours.

Hi, it would be good to post some pictures of your kitchen in case you have a new color for the cabinets post that to. I am personally not a fan of the options you have posted. Going warmer might be a better option than the gray but definitely post the pictures.

If you have lvp, quartz continues the path you're on. If your floor is engineered hardwood, I'd look at quartzites.

There are many whites. Exactly which white are you choosing for your cabinets. No one really can exercise any expertise until you show a white or ask for recommendations on a current white. BM or SW whites. You should be telling the cabinet source which white you want. Or shop for another source.

None of the above. They all have fake veining, which doesn't look good. I have no problem with quartz, but there are so many with more subtle and muted veining that will look better now and in the future. Two of my favorites are Caesarstone London Gray and Silestone Lagoon, but there are many, many others.

And yes, there are alternatives to stone, both real and man-made: wood, laminate, solid surfacing. All of these were very prevalent prior to the granite craze of the 1990s, and still are very nice and some more affordable.

Agree that the extreme (and obviously fake) veining is too much. Do you have an inspiration pictures of kitchens you like? I am not anti-quartz, but I'd look for something more subtle.

I like Sienna Grey the best from those three. Have you taken a cabinet door there to see how it looks with the slabs? Or do they have large samples you can take home to see how it looks with your floors and rest of your space? Quartz is a great choice for a counter so don't let some of these posters rain on your parade. There are plenty of people who don't want to deal with the headache/maintenance of real stone. Do you have your layout figured out yet? Seeming a busy counter like that has it's challenges. So if you can avoid seems in your layout, that would be great. Make sure you review/approve the counter template prior to them cutting it. And if the fabricator doesn't allow you to review it beforehand, find another fabricator. Good luck with your project!

If you want a non-stone, non-quartz counter top, I think steel or wood are fine choices in different environments; I really like some of the recycled glass (with cement) counter tops that are available, but I found them hard to source near me. https://icestoneusa.com/icestone-for-your-home/

I prefer natural stone over quartz. However, a quartz in a simple solid color is preferable over the veined look, imo. The veining doesn’t look natural and is tired and common looking. And stay away from greys which are so overdone.
