restore concrete sink?

Hi all!
We were going to bust this concrete sink out, but wondering if it’s worth trying to clean/restore it due to the longevity concrete sinks have and keeping some history here (they don’t make things today like they used to). The sink came with the house which was built in the 1950s.

How do you clean these? Is this mold build up? Are we ate a point of no return and safer to get rid of it?

look exactly like the one in the 1957 house i grew up in..

dad painted his and the paint job only lasted about the last 35 years of his life..

sorry i have no clue what kind of paint.. but he could squeeze a penny out of a rock.. so i doubt it was anything expensive.. lol ...

i would remove the drain and renew and replace it after painting...

he did his white..

frankly.. i miss this big old sink.. in every house ive owned... nothing beats it as a utility sink .. imo.. that and the fact that he didnt expect me and my brother to hoik it out of the basement ... thank God for that...

maybe it was an epoxy paint..

Concrete isn't a good countertop material; it's even worse for kitchen sinks.

I regret not being able to convince this homeowner that her cracked gross hellhole in her kitchen should be replaced.

A diamond pad protocol on a variable speed grinder may pretty up Emily's sink.

We had one in our last house, it was fantastic and still in good condition. but, I wanted some storage and countertop in our laundry room. I asked the guy whi had just done a partial remodel of our half bath to do it. He said he wouldn’t because I would miss it and be mad at him forever lol! So, a few years later I had the guys who did other work for us do the laundry room. It turned out great, but guess what? I missed that sink forever. Still do. Our current house has the standard utility sink like you see at Home Depot, and I really wish we had the workhouse sink.

But, your sink is in pretty poor condition, and probably not restorable. Play Taps for it.

I wouldn't be so quick to demolish, especially after having read bpath's post and if you don't have plans to replace it.

Joseph, what can be done about the bottom of the sink? It looks like the smooth finish is worn away? Won’t water start to infiltrate around the stone/aggregate, if that’s what I’m seeing?
