I suggest a large something on the wall that you see straight ahead from the entrance: It could be a poster, painting, fabric wall hanging... You could also consider painting or wallpapering this hallway using colors that complement the rest of the house.

I would put a colorful runner.

A mirror at the end might make it seem larger. A horizontal striped runner might make it appear wider.

My entire home interior walls and doors are antique white. For 3 of my doors, I have seasonal homemade wreaths on the doors. They add needed color and personality to my home!

Larger mirrored window frame would give the illusion of a longer space. But whatever you decide it needs to be seen from the entrance of the hall. Even just swapping the two framed pieces would be an improvement. I might do a gallery wall of family photos on the end wall.

It might be fun to find a light green and just paint the walks. Or, whatever color is dominate in your living room. Blue?

Yes to a runner.

Think of the end of a hallway as a destination. You want something to attract your eyes there, and a pleasant looking trip on the way. The small art work that you can't see from a distance does not do that. A larger more recognizable artwork, plus a runner if you wish, will make a big difference.

You just need to ground the space and by adding a few eye catching items it will have a more unified/inviting feel. There are lots of “house” components on the walls and to lessen its patchy feeling, I’d remove all your small accessories.

First decide on a color combination and a look; there are lots of ideas on line/try Houzz and Pinterest.

Suggest: something impactful on the wall at end, a runner and a great light fixture should do the trick.

I’d do wallpaper.

I would do a fabulous piece of vertical art that draws the eye right to the end of the hall.I do not think there is enough wall space to do wallpaper .

I’d find either a Persian or Kilim runner that coordinates with the rug above, or a traditional style jute, sisal, or seagrass one.

Thank you all! Suggestions on wallpaper or paint are welcome! The adjacent family room is BM Sherwood Green…thought of painting hallway same. Style of exterior is gambrel/Dutch and interior has a somewhat informal vibe.

That’s a gorgeous color and the dark painting looks great against it. Are you brave ( there’s always gallons of white waiting if you hate it). I think a color like that would be inviting and exciting.

Instead of the picture at the end of the foyer, I would hang a round mirror. I would also put a runner in there...something with some color in it. You could paint the foyer a sage green or a light blue.

Start by taking everything off the walls, and place a long, colorful piece of artwork (60x24) on the wall at the end of the hall. Add a long runner. Replace the light fixture with something larger and prettier, and replace the discolored doorbell fixture with a new one.

I wouldn't do a mirror at the end - you really need some art that is eye catching - one that draws people into the space. And, you don't need all the little wall art, as it is distracting and not able to be seen from a distance.
