you can leave the kitchen window as is. looks fine w/the wood cabs. (i'd bring in a runner in front of the sink area to break up all that wood though.

It just gives the eye something else to rest on.

as for the other windows, do you like the wood? I don't know what style you're in to or what the furniture is.

If it was mine, I'd paint them black, paint the walls,( I think the current color is too beige) and get some nice leather color sofa/chair, and other elements to match.

Unless done by a quality professional, painted windows can become tricky to open. Rather than paint the wood, why not dress the windows? The windows look to be fairly new and in good shape but they do look a little unfinished.

A quick look at your idea books indicates a somewhat traditional, layered style. Start layering with some drapery and you'll be covering up most of the window and adding a lot of style to the room.

Find out from your realtor if there are any older listing photos of your home and see if the window trim was also wood at one time and if it can be restored to wood.

If not I would do as tozmo1 suggests. I wouldn't paint wood windows.

Are these double paned or single since original tells me nothing. Right now I see a huge need for storage never mind the color of the window but maybe thta is because you just are moving in. I think leaving the windows as is for now is best. I always think any big changes are best done after you have lived in the space for a min. of 3-6 months
