The most cohesive solution is to rip it all out and replace it with one type of flooring, preferably hardwood. I agree with you that something lighter would look nice!

A pre finished hardwood, an engineered hardwood. Go shopping and bring home samples.

A full replacement of all the flooring all one type and color. Use hardwood or LVP but all the same. BTW a Tuscan kitchen would not be a good choice for style with thta FP brick which is MCM Looks to me like someone tried making the house something it is not so more pics of all the spaces her ein comments will get you help with other things too. DO NOT start another post.

Cost both scenarios with your local reputable flooring company: rip out all and replace with engineered or laminate (the latest laminates are way better than even the latest vinyl in terms of scratch and even water resistance - nothing is water proof) OR feathering in solid hardwood to match yours and then sanding and staining all to match. You may be surprised that the second scenario is more cost effective - just depends on your qty of existing hardwood. The second scenario is the most disruptive/messy but that is the trade off sometimes.

Thanks all. Agreed with you Hallett and Co that the engineered oak is the best out of the bunch. The inset carpet pains me and can't wait to have it out. Found a few more photos of the kitchen, some before we moved in.

Also attaching a screenshot of an inspiration photo of flooring I like. I could see it not having enough contrast with the brown countertops but we also like to keep a wool rug in the kitchen. Eventually we may make additional updates in the kitchen.

I'll note, the brick fireplace and the kitchen brick are the same.

I do like the lighter white oak floors that are trending right now -- but feel it may be too much contrast... And perhaps not go with the rest of the house.
