I wouldn't do a wood look tile next to wood flooring but instead pick a tile that looks nice with your cabinets. We have wood flooring with tile in the wet areas and it looks fine.

I've heard cork floors can be "soft" and show "dents'" from things like high heels, etc. But I have also heard they are very comfortable to walk on in general.

We have LVT in our kitchen/entry from garage/half bath; the entries into the dining room and living room butt up against oak hardwood. The LVT is (now discontinued unfortunately!) Mannington Adura in White Iron (has blushes of grey and light brown) and the hardwood is red oak with a natural stain. I think tile against hardwood looks great and doesn't look like we tried to be "matchy matchy" against the wood floors (floors are original to the house from 1994 and the LVT went in 2015 when we remodeled the kitchen). The flooring was picked to go with new maple cabinets in Chestnut stain, African Ivory granite counters, and all stainless appliances.

No cork IMO always gets damaged and the best choice really is to match the rest of the wood floor . One flooring material everywhere is IMO always best.

One of my friends did wood look tile floors in the kitchen when they remodeled, next to wood floors and I don't like the way it looks. I still like tile in a kitchen even though wood has become popular. I had tile in my previous house. It's durable and easy to clean. But I think if you use tile you should use something that is frankly tile and not trying to look like wood, because it doesn't. It looks particularly wrong next to real wood. I know it's a pain to essentially move out of one floor of your house to do this. If you have a garage, put everything in there, or get Pods in the driveway. It will look so nice when it's done and it's not something you have to do very often.

My existing wood floor has 2.25” wide planks. Everyone seems to use larger planks now. If I do the same style flooring in the kitchen and stain all the same 1. eill the narrow planks look ”dated” in a new kitchen and 2. will old flooring and new flooring take stain the same way?
