Adding a fireplace to a tall blank wall

Sorry the pictures aren’t the best, but basically I’m looking for opinions. We’re buying this home and want to add a fireplace to a tall blank wall in the family room. We’ve been told gas is supplied to the location, but there is no chimney/venting. But we can do a ventless fireplace. My question is about design. The wall is about 10 1/2 feet wide and I’m guessing 15 feet tall. It’s flanked by open doorways on either side, one leading to the entryway and the other to a formal living room. The ceiling of the room is vaulted and covered in a very nice shiplap. If I take the fireplace all the way up to the ceiling, will that compete with the ceiling? Or if I only make it a half height fireplace, will that look unfinished and kind of out of place? I was thinking either a light brick or stone for veneer. Or veneer the lower half and then shiplap the rest of the way up the wall? Or forget adding a fireplace all together? Thanks for any thoughts and opinions!
