Reinforcing chandelier

Hi All,

We are looking to install a new chandelier in our dining room. The new one being around 70-80 lbs. Unfortunately, we do not have access from above and will need some reinforcing.

Would something like this be the best option?

Also, if the base plate is mounted to the ceiling in the center, but the chandelier chain hangs from the sides of the mount, would there be any worry of the base plate bending, as the weight will be focused on the ends and not the center? Link to light below.

The fixture plate itself must be fastened to the ceiling joists or blocking. If you read the installation specs they indicate that:

Chandeliers weighing more than 50 lbs. cannot be mounted alone to a standard outlet box and require additional bracing above the ceiling where they are to be installed. Professional installation is required.

The specs on the RETRO-BRACE indicate it has a load limit of 70# on 16" centers, which is at or above your estimated load (and without knowing the framing spacing). Proceed with caution! The 'for-sure' thing would be to bite the bullet and open the ceiling up and frame appropriately as GN suggests.

Oh, alright i was looking at the static (fixture) load being 110 lbs, but i guess its better being safe.
