you could paint that wall behind the console the same blue, use a gold mirror, a diff light.

Your door could smack many of the suggested lights, so make sure to let us know the length available from ceiling to top of your front door.

I have about 12inches of clearance for the light.

I like the mirror option. if I paint the wall the blue color to match the stairway wall, then I need to get a lighter console table or bench right? I went to measure the entryway/hallway and it is 16ft total for the rug option. (sorry I was off on the length) that will take me just past the little supporting wall.

I moved the mirror down. Lamp is to big for this area?

Look very nice and lamp doesn't seem too big in your photo but I would place the plant in a lower vase for more balance with the lamp.

I am so happy I came across this post. I have kind of the same puzzlement of what to do in my little entry/hallway space. Mine however leads to my master bedroom. I’ve been on the internet for days trying to figure it out. So many great ideas!!! Especially the lighting suggestions! I really like this change. The side details on the console look great with the rug. If you kept the mirror over the console, would it reflect something nice? That would leave the end wall free for a great piece of art.

What’s reflected in the mirror depends on where you’re standing. From this position, I think it might reflect the art.

Well after adult kids were here and adjusting to the layouts, this one works the best. I really liked the table in the other wall however when using the door it felt to cramped. Also everyone liked the mirror on this wall to check themselves on the way out. Bundling up to head out in Michigan to look for some decor and light! Thank you again for all the input! Love this site and all of you.

looks really nice sarah. I still do a couple of black/white pictures on that first wall. maybe 2-3 identical frames, evenly spaced.

I would do art on that wall, black and whites. I have a gallery wall in the house already. Real close to the same design that is pictured.

I liked your earlier comment about using black and white. I think the large watercolor may be a bit overwhelming since it is so close as you walk in. These prints are from art.com. I like that they repeat the angular patterns in the rug and stair wall.

Really creative and beautiful ideas for a small space! Beth H’s symmetrical frame arrangement — perfect fit. Mrs. Pete had dome very valuable ideas as well. But DO consider family photos even if vintage, black and white! Nature or rustic theme? Mosaic/tile/shell around mirror circumference. The umbrella stand suggested above and a big basket as well. Flush the rug to the door wall and weight it. Floor to ceiling corner cabinet if time and life permit, but the console table looks perfect, if not. Stay safe and warm and best wishes! I am in Missouri and tearing through the house with snowed in cabin fever!

I’m so glad you have such a great spot for the watercolor. The size of art for the entryway depends on your frames and matting. This screenshot of a 12 x 18 print in their Chelsea frame and a 1.5” mat, comes to a finished size of 16.5” wide by 22.5” high. I’d try taping it out on your wall to see if you want to go with three and if the size feels right.

Use painter’s tape and figure out the sizes of artwork for the door-facing wall. It’s very hard to know that a certain sized piece of art will work if you don’t use tape and help yourself “see it”.

Not a fan of the multiple shelves idea. I agree black & white artwork is the winner here.
