There are plenty of places for wood in a bath, and they needn't be within a shower. Put wood on the floor!

Clarify the feel you want in the bath. Make certain you have a functional layout.

If you just want the wood look mosaic in niche and no where else, then it's not what I would select. But, what is the main floor is a wood look? then the shower floor can be said mosaics and you can carry them in niche depending what they look like.

IMO wood ook anything still needs to be in a space real wood would have been so not in a shower niche. IMO shampoo bottles are not a decor item so why highlight them in a shower .BTW subway tiles in showers are not a great idea either I think the fewer the grout lines the better .

Jan Moyer, the reason I shy away from wood-look floor tile is because this floor in the adjoining area outside the door is 8" cathedral cut white oak wire brushed flooring, and I don't want them to compete. Am I wrong?

I think a wood accent can work in a bathroom with a modern design, where it also matches the design of the rest of the house.

There are ways to use wood look tiles that are more effective.
