Bored now….

The hosta and daylily forums have some interesting posts to pass the time so I thought we might like to also.

Colors are a pretty basic and easy way to group. We’ll start with pink and break that down into light, med and dark so that will be the first three days. Red will be true red and then purple red a different day since the shading is so different. Lavender will have it’s own day and orange and peach will be separated.

Let’s try to show new pics if we can ( I know that’s hard because we all show a lot) or maybe roses that aren’t seen as much to spread the love around.

Now that I’ve said all that I must go look for pics.

TODAY IS LIGHT PINK

    #1 and #2 are correct!

#3 might be hard to guess, its a Distant Drums, can be looking very different.

    Fall bloom.

  • last year

I’ll take a stab at 5 and say Sharifa Asma

  • last year

    Nope, sorry.

    #4 Kordes from Palatine

#5 Austin, but not Sharifa Asma

  • last year

With your clues I’ll say 4 is Rosenfaszination

    #5 Queen of Sweden, right?

This is a frozen bloom of Sharifa Asma I shot 10 mins ago. LOL.

  • last year

    Nope! Its Olivia!

  • last year

Trying to stay strictly within your parameter of "light pink, here are three, and then an outlier-

    Cecile Brunner, of course:

Belle Portugaise (hybrid gigantea - once bloomer):

Susan Louise (seedling of Belle Portugaise, HT, repeat bloomer)

Here is a rose which blooms light pink, and light yellow at the same time, and other times a glorious buff color with brick petal bases. I like roses which are multi-colored, or change their colors. This one is 'Anna Olivier' old tea rose - repeat bloomer.

    Jackie

Oh, Belle Portugaise….be still my heart

  • last year

Jackie, Anna Olivier's yellow and pink changing colors are so cool! I see some blooms with apricot hint on HMF. It's hard to believe this is the same rose.

  • last year

Elena, Aha! My Olivia stays in a shady area looks pinker than yours.

Here are the light pink roses I found now. Way too many photos...

    Blessed Child

    Madame Antoine Mari

    New Dawn

  • last year

Your Blessed Child is so pretty. Mine has never amounted to anything.

I should have potted it up instead of putting it directly into the ground. It’s just too small and gets eaten by the rabbits every year. This year I’m digging it up, putting it in a container and then I’m going to move it all year following the sun. My goal is to get it to three feet and then put it in the ground again next spring

  • last year

Feiy, my Olivia planted in North side of the house… I like your color better!!

First time see Blessed Child, wow, great rose!!

  • last year

oursteelers, we also have a serious rabbit problem. They killed three of my minis in two years, so from the winter to mid spring, I used 12"x12" metal wire panels to make a cage around the small roses as a barrier to stop them. So far it works well.

I am glad that my groundhog is not interested in roses… Just vegetables and some flowers. He is around for 3 years already….the same one.

    Oooohhhh....love the light pink roses!!

Here are a few of my less common ones...

Cream Veranda...in my top five favourite roses ever!

    Cream Veranda

Amazing Grace....the flowers are absolutely enormous, and a beautiful silvery pink color

Lady of the Dawn...a charming pink-edged semi double

Nympheburg....a stunner, but I haven't figured out how to get it to rebloom yet!

    Nymphenburg

  • last year

Rosylady, I can’t believe how pink your Cream Veranda is! Mine doesn’t have any pink tones, only peach. And while we aren’t next door neighbors or anything, you’re not that far from me and both of us are surrounded by trees.

It must be the dirt, is all I can think of.

Your flowers are always so beautiful, so glad you shared!

    Chandos Beauty

    Bush shot below

Carol your Chandos Beauty is like a dream come true. Would you say the center is more a hint of peach or pink?

  • last year

I need to start tagging rose pics in my camera roll with the name of the rose because there were sone pretty light pinks that i wasn’t sure which rose I was looking at, but I recognize Earth Angel every time.

  • last year

Isfahan in early spring for me is light pink; later it becomes median pink

    Scepter D'isle

More Scepter D'isle, along with Princess Anne

  • last year

Spirit of Freedom: this one likes heat and bloomed in December and January in Northern California.

  • last year

Augusta Luise has many colors. I get pink, apricot, orange or yellow mixture depending on the season, UV light intensity or length of the day. However, in early spring in the SF Bay, it is light pink.

  • last year

Colette: not quite a link pink, but color is fairly light in early spring with apricot tone.

Rose Lai, OMG!!! what you are doing with your roses other then living in SF Bay Area?

All your roses are amazing, but your Augusta just killed me….

Oursteelers - thanks so much. I really wish it hadn't died on me. It was either the great garage die off or the pH nightmare. I'd get it again in a heartbeat if I could find it. I guess the center is more cream. So I guess it doesn't belong here. lol Maybe it's more pink in cooler weather

    Yup...it does seem more cream.

Markay - I hadn't realized that Earth Angel could look that beautiful!! :) :)

Rose Lai - Your roses are HEAVENLY and so productive!!! I think my faves are your Augusta Luise and Eustacia Vye!!! SWOON!!!!

Beth - as always you have some unusual roses! My faves are your Meredith, and First Kiss!!

    St. Ethelburga

    Carol Bouquet

Here's a Chandos Beauty that's a bit more pink...but, yeah, on the whole, I think it's more peachy.

  • last year

Rose Lai, your Augusta Louise is stunning. Well, like Elena said all your roses are but she is definitely the Queen of your garden.

Carol, your St. Ethelburga is one we don’t hear about much and Indon’t understand why at all. Gorgeous.

Beth, your Oyster Pearl really stands out to me. Is it fragrant?

  • last year

Oursteelers, I don't think OYSTER PEARL has much of a fragrance. My problem is, I don't smell much of anything on any of my roses. I think my "smeller" is dead.

  • last year

Where did you get yours from, Beth?

  • last year

Holy moly! You guys, what fabulous light pink roses!!! I am encouraged to invest in a few more.

Rose Lei, Augusta Louise is mind blowing!!!

  • last year

A late light-pink arrival from the Bourbons, 'Comtesse de Rocquigny', which is becoming a real favorite in my garden:

  • last year

Catspa that is one I was hoping to get from Greenmantle but it wasn’t in stock. I did have her put me on a list in case it becomes available in the next couple of years. Yours is beautiful.

  • last year

@oursteelers 8B PNW, only going into its third year in the ground, but CdR seems to be quite a sturdy, vigorous rose that blooms fairly constantly and well -- and smells nice -- I hope Greenmantle propagates it soon for you!

  • last year

Wow these pics are breathtaking !! i love them all . what a treat !

my fav pale pink is heirlooms tranquility ( not the david austin )

    Here is a scarborough faire

Pearly gates .. a really pretty one in the spring

Amazing grace .. i adore this rose !

  • last year

Your garden is looking so full and pretty!!

  • last year

oursteelers...Thank you! Yes, my Cream Veranda is quite pink, especially in cooler weather. I have Glacial Till soil, so acidic and devoid of nutrients...but I add lots of horse manure, so maybe that accounts for the color.

lilyfinch....I got Tranquility after I saw your pics!

rose lai....all of your roses are so floriferous and stunning!!

catspa...I have wanted the Comtesse for many years, but have neve been able to find it in stock. I'm so envious of your gorgeous flowers!

  • last year

I have a few light pinks to add.
In the vase, Our Lady of Guadalupe. A best-performing rose, even if the bush does get bigger than I’d like it to be. Dappled after rain.
Against the stone, a miniflora, Hello Sunshine. It’s usually more yellow, but this one I would call pink.
Close up, Memorial Day. Has it all: form, color, scent, rapid repeat. No problems once I started giving her more water!

  • last year

Hello Sunshine is against the window, not the stone.

  • last year

Lily finch, You're heirloom tranquility reminds me of clotilde superear.

  • last year

Oursteelers, I got OYSTER PEARL many yrs ago from Arena Roses. It's one of the survivors of the Camp Fire. Nobody carries it anymore. I should try to propagate it.

Beth - that's a shame about your sense of smell.

Jen - Tranquility and Amazing Grace are incredible...especially Tranquility!!! Oh my!!

Sweet Delight - smells amazing...all the time.

La Fontaine aux Perles - one of my favorites.

  • last year

Oursteelers, as I was going through my pictures, I was thinking you might consider eventually add a category for stripes and tan/russet/weird colored roses. Just a thought :-D

  • last year

    I will!

  • last year

Lilyfinch, I can’t keep my mind off of your Tranquility from Heirloom. I keep going back to look at your picture above and just now put myself on the waitlist at Heirloom.
