I was just talking to a garden acquaintance of mine up north. We were comparing high temperatures during the day on Sunday. She thought she'd won (she had 2 degrees to my 4 degrees) until I told her about your -7. What a thing to win though. I'm glad Abby has it better outside at least for awhile. We are still not above freezing yet (maybe tomorrow) but another arctic front (get ready) coming in Friday night..........Your How High The Moon blew me away. I'm loving that big flat face. Hyperion, great oldie with a wonderful scent.

Highland Pinched Fingers is very reliable and blooms well.

Hot Wheels didn't do so well this year [this is a previous year picture] so this fall I split it for the first time in many many years.

Honky Tonk Barbie. It has proven to be very reliable here. This is taken before the heat set in later in the day:

Heavenly Orange Blaze. Not my usual rounded form but I liked this one in orange:

I've heard so many good things about this Hensley red that I had to try it. It bloomed very well for a first year plant. Some perfectly fine red daylilies are liked by others but just don't appeal to me. This picture is very close to what I saw in the PM. We will see what this season brings:

This one was new this year and I was delighted with how it looked. The color changed a bit as the day (and our heat) progressed, but was never anything other then gorgeous to my eyes. I don't count buds, but this bloomed long enough to shake off any initial blotching on the first few blooms. The edging and center actually took on a slightly greenish tint on later blooms which I really liked:

I think today is the first day that the wind chill has not been below 0. I am really over the cold weather, but winter is not even close to being over.

I have lots of H daylilies.

I enjoy the delicate coloring of Heavenly Angel Kisses. It's quite tall too.

Heavenly Stuck on you has been here only a short time and it already proven that it's a great grower. I don't love the color though, but I do like the shape.

Now that I am finished with the Gossard daylilies, let's look at some of Dave Mussar's. Dave has worked on extra early daylilies. This was the first year the next three bloomed in our garden. Dave says they bloom as early as Stella, but in our garden, they were behind Stella. The first one is Hillside Bright and Early.

Debra: I really like HEARTS THAT CARE.

Nancy: Even though you don't like the name, I really like HEAVENLY GRAVE DIGGER. I think it is named after the Monster Truck.

Here are my H's

HUMUNGOUSAUR: Big tall purple. In my opinion, it is a purple version of MEGATRON.

HOT SEAT: Unusual color combination. The eye and edge are more black early in the morning and then turns to this brownish purple color. I debate every year if I like it or not. It is different so it sticks around.

HEMAN: Tall and well budded. Can be splotchy at times, but it usually looks like this.

HEAVENLY WAY BIG: Showing some promise. This is the first year to see it bloom.

HAVE A HEART: A Bennett intro. The largest eyed of his intros that I grow.

HAREM HOUSE: Not the best bloom, but it is an attractive bicolor. I also need to move it as it isn't in a great spot in the garden.

HONEY ON MY LIPS: This is an outstanding plant. Blooms over a long period of time. Tall scapes

HARPER'S BAZAAR: This is a very nice plant. Increases well, well budded and blooms well above the foliage.

Debra, H. Prince of Hearts was introduced in 2019. It has been here since 2021 (planted in late May) and it has done well.

David, thanks for the explanation of the name H. Grave Digger. I like the flower and hope to use iit in our dark lines.

Sherry, on the whole, Gossard daylilies do well here. We are a bit careful about buying the ones he introduced from his collaboration with Spacecoast daylilies. A notable example of one that didn't do well here is H. Angel Ice. We noticed last fall that it appears to be dead.

Sherry--Heavenly Hidden Treasure also looks good here. Last season it was a bit on the short side. I like that green throat on Heavenly Breezes. Her Best Bloomers certainly has an intense color in your pic.

Nancy--I am glad to see the Hillside cultivars. I see the posts of Mussar on Facebook, where he details all the work that goes into hybridizing, including tilling and weeding along with indoor growing.

Heavenly Grave Digger looks interesting, but yes, the name--it really makes me cringe when joined with "heavenly". I'll take some of the Hanson names any day. Heavenly Christmas Cactus is supposed to double half way through the season. Would be interested in seeing a pic of the doubling.

David--I like the picture of Have a Heart, and I see it is taller than some Bennetts. I have not seen it on your list of favorites, though.

Debra--Hillbilly Heart looks good in your garden, but performance (years ago) was poor here. Hearts that Care is a clear shade--a Holley evergreen, I see.

Brad--Highland Pinched Fingers is a nice landscaping cultivar, with taller scapes and eye-catching color. It is in the Urgent Care bed here, but deer were a problem last summer (even with nightly spraying).

Maryl--Heartless here looks just like your pic, but I am wondering what it will look like in a clump. Honky Tonk Barbie was too short here to suit me, but probably ideal for a pot. Not much rebloom here, but I think you said that rebloom scapes are taller.

Handwriting on the Wall was the best I have seen it. Baffled why a minority of cultivars seemed to like the 2023 winter/spring.

Heman is tall and looked quite good last summer.

Petit's Half Moon Key actually performed better.

Hush Little Baby always attracts enough attention to stay.

Heavenly Bombshell, a parent of C Cactus.

Heavenly Dragon Fire --a very iridescent shade of orange. Some people automatically dismiss all oranges in a single category.

Harper's Bazaar has been short at the estate, with its peculiar challenges (like growing next to bordering boxwood). So I have moved it. I constantly have to roll down umbrellas that someone has unfurled next to the pool.

Heartless is a bright color, but plant habit is unknown.

Heavenly Dark Matter --earlier color display

Heavenly Explosion --more tailored flower but not as vigorous.

Heavenly Star Fire --early, large, and tall. Not a fast multiplier here.

Heavenly United We Stand got disturbed by the fence painting. Peace with neighbor was more important.

Heavenly Tiger Tails is a vigorous earlier bloomer. Recently moved.

Mantis - This is my second time around with Hillbilly Heart. It died out in too much shade a few years ago, and I liked it well enough to replace it. It bloomed well here last year when I had more than 60 daylilies that did not bloom at all. Hearts That Care did OK last year, but it hasn't multiplied well in these back-to-back drought years. Your clump of Handwriting on the Wall looks fabulous. I've always liked the looks of Half Moon Key. Isn't in curious how some perform better in what is for most a dud year?

David - My favorites of yours are Harpers Bazaar and Heavenly Way Big. How big is Way Big?

Hey Soul Sister had better bud count than first year. Seems like a good cultivar; fairly tall.

Hooked on You. Reliable teeth. Had better bud count than in 2022, but height may be an issue.

Heroes on Horseback. An early Davisson that is quite tall.

Holiday Party. Not a fan of most doubles, but this one is vigorous.

Kate - Your weather events sound just like mine. I'm still snowed in and probably will be until Monday or Tuesday. I really like your clump of Heavenly Dark Matter! I've never seen Heartbeat of Heaven look as pretty as yours. It has not multiplied well here and has been a dud for hybridizing. I'll be moving it out this Spring.

Mantis - I've always liked Nancy's Hey Soul Sister, and it impresses me in your garden too!

HEAVENLY WAY BIG is supposed to be 38 inches tall with a 14 inch bloom. I planted it in the fall of 2022, so it is too early to tell. This was 26 inches tall and the bloom was 9 inches.
