Well gg, I don’t know if it’s actually potted in dirt….. I thought it was. Wouldn’t it have dropped needles and gotten brown by now? Been a month…..

Cool! You’ll probably need close-up pics of the actual tree, and add the conifer forum to see if you can get an ID. (For whatever reason, the branches stuck in dirt were all over the place down here.)

Has it been outside all the time you had it?

If so, it should've hardened off for the winter.

You could probably keep it in an unheated garage for the winter and plant it in the spring.

The worst that can happen is it will die. ;-)

Keep a little snow on top of the soil so it doesn't dry out.

Bill, It has been outside since I got it. I could move it to the garage, I’d rather not. Right now it’s got some snow cover, but it’s going to warm into the 40’s next week. Do I water then?

I'd keep it out of the sun and don't let it dry out. If it gets too warm it'll break bud.

Some close-up pictures might get you a proper identification.
