Bookmatching can lead to some strange effects. Yours doesn't look so bad compared to some of the others posted. Too bad you weren't aware of this before the stone was installed.

You can get a ceiling mounted picture hanging system if you want to mount art without mangling the stone. But pay attention to the required clearance of non combustible material.

Think of it as waterfall. It is well done , relax. As far as lighting what do you have in the space for lighting? Yes you can hang art but I agree something from the ceiling for hangind not damaging the stone.. As for the rest of the space you are a long way away form wall color choice and any help from here will need pics of the whole space so post those here in comments DO NOT start another post.

Yes, many bookmatched stones can end up looking like female anatomy! Didn't they show you a layout before it was cut and installed? You didn't do enough research if you didn't realize that this was a possible outcome, because there are so many photos out there that show this.

Wait until the room is complete. Once the gray paper is off the floors the fireplace stone may stand out more. If you want brighter colors, mount a peice of artwork over a buffet to the left of the fireplace. You really need to see all your furnisings in the room first.

A big no for that bright orange horse art work. Appears generic/mass-produced which is fine in some spaces, but if you're spending 10k on a fireplace, then your room is not the place. Choose art work local to you at spring outdoor shows or area galleries. The style of your room from the fireplace looks modern/sleek so look at abstract and contemporary styles with a color that will relate to the space. I think your wall color looks great with the fireplace-it should blend in...nothing needs to be accented, lightened or have a "pop of color" here as it's lovely as it is.

Have your lighting installer adjust the fixtures that point at the fireplace (this will take a pro since the ceiling is slanted). Using brighter bulbs there and making sure they illuminate the stone properly will cause the fireplace to appear lighter and brighter.

This beautiful fireplace should stand alone. Don't add artwork over it. Artwork can be installed on perpendicular walls.

You can't change or lighten veins on the slab. That's how they are. You could look into doing some sort of cool architectural mantle with side legs ( that does not attach to the stone ) . I don't feel like your paint color is really helping - but that could be because there are no lights on and the windows are covered. A nice big palm or banana plant would look great right next to it.

I really do agree with the others. Wait till everything is done, then see if you really need to do anything there. You are hyper focused on it right now because there is nothing else to look at!

I can understand how you feel a little awkward with the stone pattern now, but it actually looks nice, and I think you can get used to it. Is that long gash at the top some sort of a mounting bracket for something? What color and material will your floors be?

Right now the part you dislike is the only shape in the room besides the two black rectangles. So, of course, it's going to jump out at you. I think once you decorate the room with a rug, lamps, plants, wall art, etc. the veins will blend in with the room and not seem so obvious.

My floor color - hardwood floor

If I were you, I'd keep the overall color scheme calm and neutral, playing off your wood floors and the stone, and just throw in colors with textiles and bits of color in artwork. The orange thing is quite a statement piece, and it's up to you, but I'd hold off on buying it, if you haven't, and see if you would prefer something more zen once the renovations are done.
