ideas to turn this open plan corner into an office/den

Our small 2-bedroom condo (1533 square feet) in Boston has an open plan that we love, but can be challenging. We recently added a kitchen island which we love, but now we want to turn this narrow area next to the kitchen into a kind of office-library-den. I envisioned built in bookcases along the back wall, but we can’t run them over to the window wall because they would cover the windows. Any ideas for how to convert this space — basically from where the brown leather chair and bookcase is to the back wall. Thanks!

    You could add bookcases to the back wall, but you don't have to. Really to define the space we might suggest a larger rug so that the entire desk and chair fit on it, along with some filing cabinets or bookcases behind it. Below are some ideas for you from a few office designs of ours:
