You then buy a flat door and attach these. Once you putty and paint the paneling it will look like your old door.

(can you pry off the trim design off your current door? it would be easier to reapply to another.

if not, take in a piece to the lumber/molding place and show them what you need. carefully measure out the design and cut you new molding to the same dimensions)

just get a smooth, slab door. Apply the simple wood trim in the same design. prime/paint

But the plain door you require. Then you purchase the moulding pieces you require to assemble the French Provincial Panel shape. There is no other way to do this for an exterior door.

Sorry, hit enter by error. I’m thinking a door similar to this. In my HOA the homeowner is permitted to select their own entry set. HOAs need to adjust with the times and if yours won’t budge, it’s time for a new board.

I get it and understand completely. Just for clarification, this is a condo with 100 units. They want uniformity and that makes sense but having to ”build a door” to match the antiquated crap everyone else has and should have updated years ago is frustrating. There are safety and soundproofing, Title 24, etc concerns that should be addressed with anyone wanting to replace the exterior door going forward. The covenants dont take any of that into consideration.

Yes, it is time for an update. My reference is to an update specifically to the Rules/CCRs, for THE ABILITY of any present or subsequent board to have leeway to accept styles that don’t date to those no one would be happy to spend a lot of money on, such as the pictured entry door. To the OP, this sort of replacement is typically handled first by notifying the HOA that this is in need of replacement and getting its yay or nay for your possible choices. However, asking for later forgiveness is, depending on how pissant they are, is a risky financial proposition. Check your “architectural guidelines.” When we buy into an HOA, it’s our responsibility to know what’s in the docs. Just like any other contract. lol.

OH how I hate HOAs where no, common sense often. The door is ugly and the HOA should be thrilled you want to upgade . I am all for forgiveness but maybe not with an expensive choice .Is this the same group leding this HOA as when the house was built ? I think most HOAs boards are like nazzis just throw their weight around for no real reason. I will never live in any house where an HOA tells me what I can and can't do with my own home and I think people living in those situations need to band together to deal with stupid rules with no real reason behind them like this door .
