Bathroom Tile help!!

Here are my selections: Need tile - thinking classic white or more fun with teal. Or open!! we are into farmhouse and coastal and love vintage. Some thoughts?? Could go subway, could go more graytones or more pop of color in the shower. It's a girls bathroom (all teen/adult) in the upstairs hall. I need floor tile, shower ideas. If you have photos of finished projects for visual even better!! Thank you!!

Both teal photos are very pretty.

Can you post size and layout of the bathroom? SM's bathroom is long and large and looks like it can take the color without being in your face.

I agree no rough and bumpy tiles. I'd do all white tile and teal ceramic accessories for the vanity. Nice compromise with ability to change color as your or your kids' tastes change.

    Current bathroom before renovation.

Also how has your black faucets and showerhead held up?

We have had no problems with black faucets or shower head. Just normal wiping down as with any faucet. Only problem we have had with the black finish is on inside shower door handle, where we ended up with a little scratch off the finish from our shower squeegee ( which is metal handled, oops). So maybe stick to a plastic squeegee 😊

If you can do good makeup lighting that would be ideal. Consider the lit mirrors (example https://www.houzz.com/photos/master-suite-contemporary-bathroom-nashville-phvw-vp~3729226) or sconces to the side of the mirrors rather than above (example https://www.houzz.com/photos/castro-street-residence-traditional-bathroom-san-francisco-phvw-vp~1971121).

Here's a good inspiration photo for you https://karrbick.com/portfolio/teal-or-no-teal/

I love the zellige tile but wouldn't want to clean all those grout lines in the bathroom. I love your first inspiration photo, light and airy but not sterile feeling. A teal vanity would be beautiful and easier to change if you tire of it.

Personaaly I went with 12x24 tiles for shower walls and the floor, which worked even though a small bathroom. The shower floor and ceiling are small format tiles as per code. I just dont like taking care of all that grout. The color is a muted white/ light gray, white walls. When my contractor said “don’t you want some color tiles?” I said I would use colorful tiles and Imreally love it!

Ok I need another opinioin. I am having seocnd thougths on all black and considering leaving everything black except the faucets (shower and sink) and making those gold.

    Thoughts?

That would appeal to me. I find lots of black hardware to be great in industrial designs but not so much in others. I would add one more gold element, like a towel ring or picture frame or tray on the counter so it looks very intentional, and not "I got the faucets on sale!"

I have matte black and it's better to clean than anything else. I'd also recommend doing a wall mount to make cleaning of the countertop even easier. (I used Brizo faucets and shower. if you click on my name and go to master bath, you can view it)

are you doing a complete gut?

are you keeping the tub or taking it out for a shower?

    vanity staying and being painted?

    new floor tile too?

what about the window? what I would suggest is making it higher and smaller. less to worry about water intrusion AND, get all those hair products off the sill and give yourself a nice niche!

    something just like this:

Or like this. I took out the tub for my neighbor, made a full shower, gave them a new window (up higher so you don't have to worry about water intrusion. there's a niche on the back wall. this white tile is 3x9, in a stacked pattern. the others are 8x8

who is doing the new tile work? make sure it's properly waterproofed.

I'd also recommend a light directly over the shower. I do see a vent fan?

since you have teenage girls, you could make a shelf system like this in between the studs in the wall. would be great for makeup and products. behind the door would work. or, do an inset between the sinks (you'll need two mirrors)

or, do it off to the side like this one

    some tile ideas

I love this design. if you like the blue/white, use the pattern blue/white above, on the floor like this one. or stick w/the black/white

change out your door to a single panel, paint it dark (if you go w/blues, that's fine) for the shower, pick larger tiles for the walls.

no tub, cloe tile on the walls, white everywhere else. you could do a slightly smaller vanity to give you some storage space. Notice the wall mount faucet

same idea. smaller window, full shower, one sink vanity, storage closet

Modern farmhouse, vertical plank, outside of tub is veneered w/the countertop material (looks like Super White)

this white tile is cloe. the floor tile is a porcelain hex. solid gray quartz top, white vanity, white oak mirrors.

you see the drawers in the middle? each girl can have their own storage.

this is coastal. if you want to keep the tub, do a fixed panel glass like shown here. this tile looks like cloe or maybe Portmore. nice white oak vanity. I'd still wall mount the faucets

on the floor, Emser Terazio tile in a 24x24. this would be great for your walls or floors. it's porcelain, thin grout lines. comes in a few colors. love it w/the black tile and white oak

I would do this tile and that floor like this ^, wall mount faucets, but regular sinks (c-white vanity) .

with either the white oak vanity, or that white vanity I showed you
