I found it helpful. Look around your area and see which plants get used the most ... these are usually the tried and true varieties that do well in your climate. Around me, most people use the same dozen plants because they grow well.

You need to talk toa good garden center ideally with a landscape designer on staff . That is how you strat any landscape IMO so thta you get plants that grow in your area and how you want to use them. I am a love of frnce or hedge and for sure on a corner lot to control cutting across the yard which in my experience has been an issue in 2 of our corner lot homes . A hedge or even as you show stragegic landscaping can do the trick, The other issue is of course how much gardening you are prepared to do.I think it also depends on your need for any privacy on that corner lot in a screened space

If you want to create a "fence" and privacy Pitch Apple and Areca Palms are good choices. We used both to block a neighbor's view into our lanai. Just wish we had started out with larger plants so they would be even larger now!

When redoing our front yard, we took pictures from different angles and headed to a nursery (during their slow time). They took us around to show what they were recommending and why, and discussed short and long term results. It was free as they assume we would be buying the larger choices from them (which we did). Tell them your needs and wishes, maintenance level and budget. If you don’t want to do all at once, ask what should be planted in each stage.

You probably don’t want to create those designs where shrubs are right close to your screens, blocking breezes, your own “ long views” and of course requiring maintenance in a narrow tight space.

Drawing out your whole back yard dimensions and which are most important privacy “ angles” would help- of course a LD would do this. Unless you do have a street edge suitable for a privacy hedge at the lot’s edge, creating a “ walled garden,” think more of creating an airy, pleasing and varied grouping you can enjoy from inside and also enjoy as you walk through a bit and do any maintenance. This is often some ornamental small trees / large shrubs for height, and smaller shrubs or grasses or tropical plants, in your zone, to cover at lower level of trunks And how much lawn needs to remain, & where?
