Is there only one place to sit in the room?

@deegw Right now, yes. I used to have a couch against the wall. It’s an awkward room and I struggle on how to position furniture. Open to any and all suggestions.

Can you share pictures of the other two sides of the room? It's hard to suggest furniture placement without being able to see the whole room.

That's a tough layout. Do you need to fit a tv in the space or do you just want a cozy seating arrangement?

@deegw no tv needed. We have a casual family room where we spend most of our time. This room just collects junk at this point. We don’t use it often.

Start with a new rug that isn't too fancy like the current one.

I'm trying to find a picture to illustrate what I'm going to suggest not having any luck.

I'd float a small sofa or loveseat and two chairs (like the one in your photo) on the rug. I'd place the sofa a bit away from the wall, partially on the rug, and the chairs opposite. I think you'll have enough walking clearance around the rest of the space.

The PROS won't usually chime in unless you post a floor plan so you might want to sketch one up and post it when you get a chance.

You're welcome! I think Beverly's idea to start with a rug is a good one. Persian or oriental boho might be good search terms for you to try. You should get results that are cozy and organic and darker versions will work for the moody.

May we have measurements of the room that include the width and height of the openings, doors, windows and fireplace. what about turning this room into a game room?
