Need help choosing white paint for trim, walls, and cabinets

We would like creamy white walls, trim, and cabinets, but we are limited in the colors we can choose from so we are struggling a bit.

What are some options that would work if we want white cabinets and white walls and trim?

Have you considered using a dart board?

Another houzzer turned me onto Maria Killam. She has ebooks that you can get online along with her color wheel to help you determine the undertones of your other features (ie. Cabinets, flooring, fireplace, etc). Once you know your undertones it narrows the list of whites. She has lists of both SW and BM paint colors in her ebook.

Via The Color DNA Table at The Land of Color you can input all your options into the Table and compare those specific colours in detail by any of their major colour attributes, including

    Hue Family, value, chroma, LRV

organise them by which attribute is most inportant to you.

it’s an incredible first filter for creating a reasoned shortlist.

If a specific colour is too dark for you? Remove all colours of the same value and lower.

if a specific colour is too grey for you? Remove all colours of the same and lower chroma.

So here, just as an example, using those objectively measured colour attributes, you may find that although Dover White is a possible contender for walls, you know you would feel it just too much of a colour for your trim everywhere. (Especially if you fancy a repaint in some spaces)

So straightaway you are looking at a trim much lower in chroma than Dover White.

Zero chroma = a true neutral. (there aren’t any readily available on the high street.)

    More chroma = more colour.

"We would like creamy white walls, trim, and cabinets...What are some options that would work if we want white cabinets and white walls and trim?"

    1. If you want "white cabinets and white walls and trim" why include in your list paint colors that are not white?
    2. Do you want to use the same paint color everywhere? Then the only "creamy" choice is Dover White.
    3. Or are you asking for wall and cabinet colors that coordinate with Extra White or Dover White millwork (trim)?
    4. Are wall and cabinet colors to be the same? Then your only choices are Dover White, Drift of Mist, and Extra White as those are the only colors that appear on both lists; and Dover White is the only "creamy" color of those three.

Cabinets should not be painted with house paint. You will have all kinds of issues if these are site sprayed with that type of finish.

@Minardi: "Cabinets should not be painted with house paint."

He said only that Sherwin-Williams colors were options for the cabinets, not that wall paint would be used to paint those cabinets.

Hello all - my apologies for the lack of context here... understanding there are a lot of colors I listed out and this may have seemed like spam. Just looking for advice from color experts!

One of the options we are leaning towards is SW Extra White trim/doors with Alabaster walls and cabinets.

Does anyone have any thoughts on pairing Alabaster walls and cabinets with Extra White trim?

    Thank you!

They will work well together. compare them by their attributes of value + chroma.

Extra White is higher in value + lower in chroma. so is lighter and more neutral by comparison.

When teaming a white and off-white together, a really useful thumb is ensuring they have at least a minimum difference in chroma of 0.2.

    This combination meets that. 🌿

Always worth viewing colours in situ, as they are heavily impacted by lighting and context.
