I'm looking for some colorful shade plants, preferably flowering shrubs, to put in front of my living room picture window. That area faces north and is in shade at all times. A nursery assistant recommended Cordylines as shade plants, but when I researched them online I found some comments saying that they require full sun.

I am in a quandary now. Will these plants do well in shade? Any assistance will be appreciated.
