Tubers rather than bulbs. And looking strongly like dahlias.

While the tubers do look rather like dahlias I don't think the stiff, woody stem does. I'm wondering about some kind of Helianthus.

Thank you so much gardengal and floraluk2, Do you think I can replant these "tubers'? Should I cut off the woody part? I'd like to see if it grows. Would I separate the tubers or leave them in a bunch as they are?

The 'bulbs' look like Alstromerian and they spread like 'wildfire' as the bulbs grow in bunches. Give them time and they will cover your garden.

Seriously doubt that they are Alstroemeria!! I have grown and dug them too man times not to recognize that their tubers grow as clusters of small, pale cream or white nubbins.

I am still leaning hard towards dahlias......
