Kitchen plan help please

I'm renovating my kitchen and questioning if the door to the pantry should be even with the front of the range, which makes the sink and frig walls more symmetrical, or even with the back of the range wall? The plan has it even with the front.

Is the kitchen in the upper left? It’s hard to read what is on the outer wall that would be visible by putting the door against the back vs range front - you could also just leave it open.

The very top left is the pantry and then the kitchen down from there.

Would you consider a pocket door behind the range, remove the wall to the left of the range, and continue the sink counter all the way to the pocket door? It looks like a nice pantry, the door will probably stay open most of the time, and it incorporates the side door to the kitchen, letting in more light. Removing the wall by the range gives you a bit more elbow room to work in.

You didn’t ask, but consider adding an outside door to the laundry room.

I like the hidden doors. With that i guess the doors are always closed. Any other kind of door and I would probably always have the door open. Not sure if it would make the kitchen feel smaller with the 8' ceilings. Would also box in the range vs leaving the left end open.

Do you think it would look weird to have the wall open on the left side of the range but closed on the right?

    Well, I’m a function-over-form gal, so …

Post your kitchen plan separately, legibly. In a bold enough jpeg that can be blown up and SEEN.

All the dimensions should be visible, along with appliance placement, clearances, island etc. Note entries , exits, garage etc.

This would be with the door behind the range.

I would get an architect. I do not understand how you even get to the kitchen

How much land are you on? Where's north?

Aside from the kitchen, I see a few problems with the plan. Corners are prime real estate in a house. In your plan, the master bedroom closet is on a corner/exterior wall, limiting light and air to the bedroom. The pantry is also on an exterior wall, specifically a corner, also limiting light and air to the kitchen. The bathroom for one of the bedrooms is totally interior, with no windows at all. A lot of this can be fixed by having a detached or semi-attached garage, thus freeing up a whole side of the house for windows.

This is an older house on 15 acres. The pantry and master bedroom and closet are additions on each end. Just trying to make the best of a bad house. I needed a tornado so that I could start over.

Wow, 15 acres, you certainly seem to have enough space to make use of all four corners of your house. I'd redo it to have a garage attached by an enclosed breezeway. Rooms with windows on at least 2 sides are best for prevailing winds and light to enter the house.

If you're starting from scratch, get a good architect who can make the best use of your land.
