Thank you! do you think the couch color would bring out the orange in the wood too much? im not the biggest fan of the wood stain but its something that i have to work with. Do you think orange pillows or throws would being it together?

Sofa on the sconce wall and chairs floating across from it. Large coffee table in the middle. I'd do a soft shade of mocha for the sofa. Brown and blue look good together and it won't clash with your floors. Here is an example of West Elm mocha velvet. I'm not necessarily suggesting this particular sofa, nor West Elm.

    Nice rug.

I think the saddle is nice with the blue chairs. The chairs bring up the blue in the fireplace, and the sofa balances the floor and mantel. The rug is a good bridge for both.

Try to keep the furniture a bit off the walls and especially off window treatments.

I for one love your floor colour. Its warm and inviting and brings back memories of my Saturday chore as a kid, using past wax and the old floor polisher to bring the floors to a beautiful shine

I lkke the floors I do not like wall scaonces in LRs they cast weird shadows and limit art placement. I would go fin a huge piece of art for that wall then choose a sofa. You will need a custom soalr shade for that top window to prtrct both the floor and the rug and furnishings in the sapce . Are those vertical blinds ? Is the rug specail ? I need more info so post that here in a comment DO NOT start another post . IMO stop stressing about the floor color and do arug after you choose a sofa you love IMO in thta space you could easily do 2 sofas and the chairs . As for sofa color I need the info about the rug to advise . If the rug is special then it factors into all the other choices if it is just a rug then do not let it drive the bus.

There's a million neutral colored sofas out there to pick from. Measure before you go shopping.

Thanks everyone! To answer a couple questions; i did just buy this rug and was planning on using it in the space. The windows have verticle blinds that i am planning on covering with curtains. My biggest delimma is the sofa on the wall but it sounds like i may need to decide on a few other things before choosing the sofa (wall art, decor, curtains, etc)

for reference here is what i have so far:

A cream colored sofa is absolutely going to work. Here’s another color to consider since your rug is so gorgeous.

I would have the sofa face the fireplace..moving the gray chairs closer to the gray fireplace..one on each side

The color on sofa above looks perfect..much lovelier than beige

The sconces may work on each side of the fireplace..with a pretty uplighting on the angled ceiling…and definitely more pictures would help…the troubling floor color may be adjustable with a tinted clear coat once you are settled on the rest of the decor

Choose the most important item - the couch vs art, decor, tables, cushions. Do floor plans to scale and will there be a tv? Look at inspiration rooms and mood boards to get a sense of what you like/what accessories were used. Are you open to using blinds?

Decor wise, I’d continued with earthy, warm shades with pops of black. Replace the sconces and being so high, look for ones that are long.

Consider spraying the fireplace surround and even changing mantle.

IMO I'd bring more the dusty blue green into the room.

Your redecorating project sounds exciting! When choosing a sofa for your entryway living room, consider the size of the space and the style you want to achieve. A sectional sofa could provide ample seating while anchoring the room, or you could opt for a sleek mid-century modern design to complement your West Elm chairs. Neutral colors like beige or charcoal gray are versatile options, but don't be afraid to add a pop of color with a vibrant sofa in teal or mustard yellow.

Nice choice! I would add some interesting pillows that bring in the caramel color in the rug. These are from Etsy.com

A neutral-colored sofa will provide versatility while allowing your chairs and rug to stand out. Nice rug, by the way.
I think a soft gray or beige could blend perfectly while offering a sophisticated look. You can look into customizable sofas because you can choose their size and color. A few months ago, we bought the Anna sofa from this store with custom sofas. It cost about $2100. It's a good price, compared to other stores where for such a sofa you would pay more than $3000. And they have fabrics in many colors, so you should be able to find something that suits your tastes.

Also, consider floor-length curtains made of light, airy fabric like linen or sheer cotton. These will allow natural light to filter through so it will enhance the space's openness.

For lighting, forget the wall sconces. A floor lamp and maybe some desk lamps would look much, much better.

Have you tried the chairs across from the sofa? Or moving the chairs closer together? It looks like there wouldn’t be enough space for one person to sit in the chair and another to sit at the end of the couch without bumping knees.

    Love your rug!
