Why did you select a chest so small in scale. It's just not right for the wall.

My eye says the color is too cool. Something warmer might have fit better with the floor/wall colors.

I agree you need something larger for the space. For now you might add a potted plant to the right of the TV. Add art above console as in Beverly’s example.

Thanks everyone! I was hoping to use the furniture thatbi already had. But you’re right in that maybe it is too small for the space. Here are more photos of the open concept area (apologies for the clutter, I have a toddler and a husband.)

I would certainly use what you have. How about switching the console from behind the sofa to that wall and the smaller one to behind the sofa, where the scale might not be as noticeable. I think I would paint it solid black no distressing as your floors are already busy.

I like the idea to add a tall potted plant on the right side, and hang art above the chest, perhaps framed family photos.

I would try your console by the couch in that space and maybe relocate the blue one elsewhere in your home, perhaps in that other room we can see.

no, it would be too small behind the sofa too! move it upstairs and get a new thing. maybe one with nice servingware storage.
