You should not take that if it was sitting on the curb free. Viking is terrible.

I don‘t know anything about the Viking in your image. However I do know that I have a 10 month old 36” Viking gas range ($5900) that has never functioned as advertised or designed. Viking, its service provider nor the merchant have fixed or replaced the range so we are taking other means to get it removed and refunded. countless times I’ve wished we bought a big box special instead. Do yourself a favor and find a different one!

Our experience with an older Viking was horrible-- major structural welds in the frame broke with the thermal expansion/contraction of the oven (I suspect they were a crappy, uninspected cold welds to start with). Viking's response was to tell us to pound sand. I wouldn't touch it.

The model number should be under the right burner bowl frame. I recall them discontinuing that open burner design as much as 15 years ago [although they've recently reintroduced it]. So I doubt that the 8-year estimate is accurate. Ideally, the seller would remove the burner bowl frame and take a picture of the model/serial tag. Once you have the serial tag you could contact Viking/Middleby and they should be able to tell you how old it is. I prefer the open burner design over their modern sealed burners:

I wouldn't give $50 for that thing, unless I were handy enough to rebuild it all myself. And owned and air sled to move it!

It looks like mine which is 23 years old and has been a pain for 22 of those years, despite having an absolutely perfectly calibrated oven temp and super powerful open burners. Viking has an expected lifetime of about 20-25 years, so that is waaaay to much for that range. Jets and tubes in the oven need frequent relaxing at that age, pass on by.
