WOLF Dual Fuel Stove chipping

I have a dual fuel WOLF stove and the oven is chipping and grazing. In looking through reviews on houzz it looks like this has been an ongoing problem. I contacted WOLF and they have offered to send me the part to replace it and cover part of the repair. However the repair is over $1000. They also offered me 40% off on a new stove. Either way it will cost me between 1000 and $5000 to fix the problem. Has anybody else experienced this? And what have you done about it? I noticed there was a class action suit but I don't know what the outcome of it was. Does anybody know? Any suggestions on how to handle, move forward.

Wolf has known about this problem for years and it is amazing to me that they have not redesigned the interior to rectify it. There was a long thread years ago on Garden Web, before Houzz purchased Garden Web. Perhaps you can still find it here. As I recall, the more persistent owners with the problem were with insisting Wolf take care of it, the more help they ultimately got from Wolf. However, since this has been a longstanding problem, perhaps the company has, sadly, just decided to tell customers to “put up or shut up.” It’s unconscionable that Wolf hasn’t fixed this problem and that they won’t stand behind their product. I will be purchasing a new range and ovens this year, and it disappoints me that I will have to avoid Wolf for this reason.

5 or 6 years old. I have an extended warranty but the warranty company claims its cosmetic so they will not repair. I noticed the damage after I ran self cleaning.

Nine years ago I debated getting the Wolf dual fuel, but went with the Miele strictly due to the blue enamel chipping issues I read here. At some point we will replace the Miele, and I had hoped that the issue was resolved. Guess we will not be going with Wolf.

Self-cleaning seems to be the cause of many oven problems/failures, for all brands.

I’m in the midst of purchasing new appliances including a 36” range. In my research I saw Wolf has noted the chipping and grazing issues in its specs:

“Porcelain is made from natural products and, therefore, can chip or develop fine lines and cracks due to the expansion and contraction that occurs as oven temperature fluctuates. This can result in cosmetic imperfections, such as a cloudy, dull or scratched appearance. Cosmetic imperfections may be more visible in a colored oven cavity.”

The fact that Wolf is advertising a known problem instead of fixing it is mind boggling.

If you do not use the self clean it should not be a problem. As I have been doing my research, apparently the self clean on many ovens malfunctions. I guess the trick is do not use the self cleaning. I love my Wolf stove otherwise. What I did invest in was a large cookie sheet, which can easily be cleaned or replaced and I keep it on the bottom shelf of my oven and it catches almost all my spills etc. That way the bottom of the oven does not get dirty.
