Could you do a phantom screen?

Order one made for you thru a real lumberyard, not a box store.

See if you can find a 28 x 80 screen door and trim it 1/2" on each side. 28" is a standard size but will be a special order.

The big box doors that I'm finding in a 30" width don't appear to have much meat to them--not enough to trim 1.5" off each side.

Maybe the door you have is repairable? Maybe post a picture?

FWIW, I would avoid doors that are finger jointed...like the Lowe's door at your link. (Which also doesn't appear to be beefy enough to trim down.) .I especially don't like fingerjointing on anything that is exposed to the weather. Those joints will telegraph thru the paint and will be the area where paint first begins to fail. More so in an exterior application.

Hi, They make aluminum screen doors that have adjustable hinges, the hinges are mounted to a channel that fits over the hinge side of the door and can be adjusted to fit the door when you are sure you the right fit just screw the channel to the door,
