Patching a solid surface countertop for a sink

last modified: 2 years ago

I have a 9 ft Krion countertop with a 36" kitchen sink cutout at the very middle. I want to replace the sink with a 33" sink requiring 31" cutout. What is the effective for a seamless patching? I do have the extra Krion countertop (approx. 30") to use as a patch. Can I have a 5" piece patched to the cutout as in second pic or will it be better to have the Krion cut 5" for entire counter, seam join and

then add a 5" piece at one of the ends as in third pic?
