Open floorplan paint help needed

House was built in 2002, moved in last year and I'm tired of looking at the same color EVERYWHERE. The walls/ceilings are all a light beige (maybe swiss coffee) and the molding and cabinetry is a creamy white. It all feels very dated and a bit dingy. Currently saving for a major redo of floors, etc. but hoping that a few hundred dollars in paint can tide me over until then.

I was originally thinking I would paint the walls in the kitchen and defined rooms and leave the rest, but after looking at ideas, I wonder if just painting the ceilings the same color as the crown molding would help open it up and give it a crisper feeling, and I should start there before touching the walls.

Further complicating things, while there are some defined rooms, the rest is completely open, so trying to touch the main part of the house is rather daunting as one wall leads to the next room, leads to the next ceiling.

The kitchen currently has a the Corian Tarragon countertops (green), the tile floor and backsplash is that Mardi Gras Daltile (so pink, blush, and tan) and the accent tile around the fire place and in the backsplash is a black/grey/white). Feel like there's a lot going on.

Long story short, suggestions on where to start with wall/ceiling paint (I'm sure there are lots of other changes to be made but starting with bang for buck until bucks increase). Photos below.
